Save converter doesn't work?

I downloaded the latest nightly and tried to load a dos saved game. but it crashed.

some soldiers are assigned to non-existing base, e.g. Nikolai Romanov/SS

do you know what happened to that soldier? KIA? MIA? sacked? something else? I don't see those soldiers when I load the save in the original

got it to work, Thanks. it was the result of me trying to port my old soldiers into openxcom.
