What are your thoughts on ufo extraterrestrials? How is the Gold Version and the grey fiend mod? How does it compare with openxcom?

Vanilla: average game, its only real advantage (IMO) over X-Com is air combat on Geoscape.
Vanilla Gold: not that much different.
Grey Fiend's UNIMOD: fantastic game, really recommended.

I notice that compared to openxcom, it seems like a lot of aliens are clustered around your starting spacecraft, or base entry point. Is there some setting that could change this in Greyfiend.
