Convenience options that should be enabled by default
« on: January 09, 2017, 10:31:31 am »
Just a thought - there's a lot of convenient stuff that often doesn't come enabled by default.

1. Resolution. At least start with something a bit bigger than default. Can't complaim much because my computer max is 1024x600. Yes netbooks suck.
2. Show Funds (Geoscape). Why not default? Quite little cool mod.
3. Retain interrogated aliens. It just makes sense.
4. Disable auto-equip. Anyone uses it?
5. Display if weapon is two-handed.
6. Display in inventory if weapon is two-handed.

I attached the config file with 0.5.2 by mistake, normally it shouldn't even be there. But since you're asking:

1. Resolution. Depends on machine really. I use higher resolution for battlescape, but for Geoscape it doesn't change much, so I just don't really care.
2. Funds: yeah, sure.
3. Retain interrogated aliens? Is that option even still functional? It's governed by ruleset... And besides, how does interrogating the same alien over and over make sense?
4. I use Auto-Equip. :P
5. Whatever you prefer.
6. Whatever you prefer.

Yes, it exists.
It gives you a corpse after researching a live specimen.

4. I use Auto-Equip. :P

Gah!

All right, thanks. It's changed a number of times, so I lost track. (The ruleset should be fine... But do keep this stuff in my head.)

Gah!

Well okay, I admit I'm not doing it blindly... I usually change the gun and some other custom items. But at least the soldier comes equipped with generic stuff, like grenades, flares etc., so I don't have to put it all in place by hand.

Yes, it can be done with templates, but I'm not really interested in using templates.

I never use auto-equip, I always equip my troops for each missions individually. This is because I like to maximize the equipment I bring, and sometimes I have to swap out equip for some specific missions - for example, I give most of my team small shotguns for Zombie Infection missions, that thing is like Zombie-B-Gone.

I'm not exactly sure what it is, but in piratez, theres a bit of code letting you see weights of things as you sell them... Could this be added? This would be handy, with the setup xcomfiles is going for
