No, it's not about Area 51.  :D

One of your soldier has spotted an alien.
There is a red square to the right of the screen when the soldier is selected, and he can see the alien.

So, your soldier can see the alien, but you can't see the alien on the screen.
This happens when the alien is located in a dark part of the screen.
You know, when you move the mouse cursor all over the screen to try to determine where is located the alien.

Yes? You get it!  :)

So, I suggest to display a yellow 3D box at the alien position when this happens; the 3D box is removed as soon as the alien sprite is clearly visible on the map.

or maybe made alien brighter for short moment after you click button?

What Yankes said seems simpler and more effective, but I'm not sure how that could be made to happen.

I watched a let's play on u2b the other day and this happened.

The player tried to find the alien in dark area with difficulty and he finally arrived.
He fired at the alien, missed it, and with no more TUs to use, he changed soldier, and then, back to trying to find the alien in the dark with the mouse cursor, quite annoying (for him  :) ).

So I think the alien position should be clearly and permanently displayed on the screen when this happens.

I could never figure out why this happens like this.  I mean, can your soldier see the alien or not?  If it can, then why can't you actually see the alien?  Or, if the alien is still in the dark, maybe you shouldn't be able to spot it in that case?  Couldn't, and still can't, figure out if this is some kind of play balance thing or just a weird graphic anomaly that needs to be fixed.

This mostly seems to happen when there are height differences involved(the alien is standing on a roof top, spotter is on the ground)  I always figured it was that the alien's head was poking up over the edge of the roof and could be seen but the ground it is standing on isn't visible from that angle so isn't lit yet.  Highlighting the alien would work, I wouldn't mess with the ground reveal tho. 

I always use the mini-map, the blue dot is easy enough to find.
