[HWP/BETA] X-COM Enforcer

This is something I made mostly for myself, but maybe it will be interesting for others too. When I saw Svanh's Drone mod, I got an idea. In the X-COM „lore“, there is a robotic warrior type thing. Yeah, we all know how bad as X-COM game Enforcer was, but on the other hand – it is the time of First Alien War and the oportunity to add new unit type to old UFO. Because as most of you, I played UFO:EU since 1994 many, many times and... well, it is allways the same (good game) now.

So i learned something about moding OpenXcom from wiki and get inspiration from Svanh's Drone mod. And this is what I created.

It is not perfect, because I am not an graphic artist (or pixelartist? :) ). But i tried my best. So Enforcer has a custom inventory image (in fact I created 3 versions, but choose the one that is less pixelated and close to slightly modified flying suit armor sprites – see screenshots), custom unit spirte, ufopedia entry for Enforcer itself and Advanced Robotics Technology).



It has some issues

–   first, as you probably figured out now, i am not native english speaker, so the ufopedia entry texts will need some corrections
–   second, when I give something into the hand (or inventory) of the Enforcer, the item (weapon) has tendency to disappear after the mission.

Maybe try giving it a "natural weapon" then?

This is actually a very cool, inventive and sensible idea. It is based upon actual X-Com canon an therefore far more justified than other similar mods.

I also think it'd be nice if there was only one Enforcer, or at least a very limited number, to make it more unique. How about giving it a necessary component that is only available on Battleships? Of course it'd require adding another object to the game; maybe some inventory stuff that is only carried by Commanders? I'm not sure myself, but I think it'd worth considering.

i have to say i am very, very impressed with this mod, the requirements are so high it fells very vanilla, which is a good thing  ;D

do you have full grafix for the other two versions? they could be used as variants

the one on the far left, the big one, i was thinking would make a good 'heavy' version and the one on the right would be cool for a flying one

can they use Psy-Amps? they are machines so i would think they should't be able to but i was wondering

i also ask your permission to incorporate into my mod-pack that i have been accumulating over time, intigrating and balancing the mod with the others in the pack

Well, actually there are multiple Enforcers, hence the reason why in the game XCOM: Enforcer there is a multi-player option and multiple Enforcer skins to pick from.  8)

EDIT:

After some deliberation, I think it would be great if Sectopod corpse was necessary to build this technological marvel. It should make it seem more elite, since you can't build just any number of them.

Despite of the "item disappears after mission" issue, is there a way to make him not hold a plasma rifle in its right hand by default ?

Aldorn - I am not sure if it is possible. I was playing with the fixedWeapon part a bit, but the result was only disappearance of Enforcer from equip and manufacture lists :) Enforcer is HWP, and I don't know if HWP can be without set fixed wepon.

Strange, fixedWeapon shouldn't do that. Could you post the relevant code here? Perhaps someone can help.
