[object properties] light emission, timers

I'm not sure about the feasibility of this, but would it be possible to
- allow any object to emit light (yes, weapons too)
- create objects with fixed timers, with a defined "action" that is triggered when the timer runs out? Basically like the grenade function, but a) the ruleset defines a possible range of the timer and b) instead of exploding, anything can be defined

For example:
-minTimer: 7
-maxTimer: 7
-startsPrimed: true
-timeUpAction: spawn
-spawnObject: Tree

would define something that turns into a tree after 7 turns.

Both features seem really moddish, but also relatively easy to implement (I think). Why not?

yeah, totally moddish :) but if it's possible, it opens up the field for a lot of pseudo-scripting stuff. it's still not scripting, but the possibilities... especially if one object can spawn more than one other object... :D

I want a torch just like in Dungeon Master.  :D

Illuminance decreases with time and disappears completely; then I can throw it to the Monsters Aliens.

Wait a minute, what about a turn based version of Dungeon Master with Open XCom engine?!?

Should I make a suggestion?  ;D :o 8)

why throw it, when it becomes a venerable club? hit 'em over the head with it! actually, why wait for it to burn out: hit 'em over the head while it's burning for additional fire damage!

A more mundane application would be to make the Flamethrower glow just a little... :)
