Elerium 115
« on: October 18, 2013, 12:31:28 pm »
As most of us know Elerium 115 is preciuos.
But I would like to know if there is a way to make some of it survive the blast from the power source. Or is it a no way?

Don't think this can be done in rule-sets. You can just make everything which uses elerium to use less elerium in the rulesets though if your finding the lack of elerium a bit too tough.

i think you can add

armor: 100

to its item-entry in the Ruleset, the # being how much damage it can sustain (100 is pretty good -- but so are powersource explosions..)

I will test the 100 armor and see if it helps
(line 2231 to change armor from 20 to 100)

And thanks for the responds.

100 probably won't do it; might try 1000

in the recent Ruleset, under items:

line 2150

Code: [Select]
  - type: STR_ELERIUM_115
    size: 0.1
    costSell: 5000
    weight: 3
    bigSprite: 56
    floorSprite: 37
    invWidth: 1
    invHeight: 1
    attraction: 4
    armor: 1000

end /corrupting all that is good & holy.

Thing is crashed UFOs have a significant chance to generate in the battlescape with their power sources blown, regardless of whatever stats you might want to give Elerium.

I haven't checked the ruleset, but maybe what you could do is give other UFO "furniture" an Elerium component so you get some units when said objects are salvaged. You know, just like the game calculates the alien alloys salvaged from spacecraft hulls.

nah, pet1's approach is correct. the game generates crashed UFO's by exploding the UFO power sources with a certain probability. the Elerium battlescape item is merely destroyed by the explosion. what's even more trouble is that the Elerium is actually more squishy than the Power Source, which results in the "never use explosives around a power source" dogma: chances are, you'll destroy the elerium.
