Line of Sight vs. Fire
« on: May 17, 2013, 04:31:07 am »
Not sure if I should put this on the bug tracker or not, so I'm asking here first. Shouldn't I always be able to take a shot at an alien my soldier has line of sight on? If I have a little "[1]" indicator, then I shouldn't  be getting a no-line-of-fire message, right? Well, sometimes I do! I just experienced it in the latest git (openxcom_git_master_2013_05_16_2346).

Thanks for the input!

Not necessary. Target could be visible from eye level, but not visible from level of gun's barrel. Like in UFO:Defense.

You can force your solider to fire by holding down ctrl. Though be careful about doing this while on the ramp of the sky ranger. If you get a "No-Line-of-Fire" message there, it's because your gun is pointing at the tail end of the plane.

My impression is that line of sight is an issue a lot more frequently in this version than it was in the original game.
