Question about an armor

Hey:
Recently i researched something, i "think" contacts: smugglers, but i am not 100% sure. Anyways, afterwards the screen popped up with all the new stuff i could buy. Not knowing what what is i bought 1 piece of everything new.
And there it was, the plate mail, a fantastic armour,  finally i have a chance againts the mercenaries.

BUT: i can neither research it ( i know, i do not have all dependencies) AND i can't buy some more? Wtf?
Are there items, that can be bought only once??

Maybe you hid it by accident?

I didn't even know that you could buy plate mail, I have never used it tbh.

Plate mail is manufacture only, thou there is a random event that will give you one. It is not purchasable. The are no items of limited supply, there is no code support for that.

So it would be better to keep it until researchable?
Because loosing it in battle would mean, that it is lost, right?

It something you will learn to build eventually, but is not itself a researchable item. Use your good fortune.

If the gal wearing it dies then it is lost, yes. But the item is not needed for research (you can research plate armor eventually, but the item itself that you already have is not needed for that research) so not wearing it would be a waste. I would suggest wearing the shield version of it, just to make doubly sure the wearer does not die easily (it has like 80 front armor that way).
