Making your units partially control by A.I
« on: September 28, 2019, 06:16:20 pm »
I have been looking into turning some of my soldiers partially control by the A.I, has this been done?

Er... get mind controlled?

Sorry, but with a question posed like this, my answer is 100% accurate. I have no idea what else you could mean.

Okay, the goal is, if I start a battlescape mission, I would like a few units, like mechanical, say a tank, to be A.I controlled. Not mind controlled. You have no control over it, this unit is fully autonomous.

Like the Spawn unit, spawnUnitFaction: 0... you have units on your side but control by A.I, they can act by themselves. You have no control over them.

Can such a unit exist?

Why no? You can use spawning units from item (unbox drone), which will be count as civilian and act autonomously. Or not?

They are not your units then, are they... they don't act during your turn, they don't count into your squad size, they don't share anything with your soldiers... in contrary, their actions are strictly separated from any of your actions.

Anyway, there's no point discussing this, there is no such thing as autonomous computer-controlled player units in turn-based games.
For that people have invented real-time games.

You can make an item that spawns units to civilian faction, but fair warning that they're typically very dumb.

Hi, thank you all for kindly contributing. The reason I am doing this is to test all the prototype ideas I have for my mod, before going into production with all the features I want. I am hoping to make the turrets spawn on my craft to be completely autonomous, plus a few other things I want in mind.

Nord, thank you for kindly supporting and pointing out to my need. Really appreciate of your advice and help.

Again Meridian, thanks kindly for sharing your knowledge of what possible and what is not. Again, I am just testing the boundary of this game can do.

ohartenstein23, thank you kindly for sharing what is possible at the very least.

Thank you all.
