Battlescape map for a custom facility
« on: August 01, 2019, 02:18:25 pm »
I am working on a small mod (it's my first one) that creates a new facility, that is available from the start and serves only for interconnecting other facilities. It would be called Access Tunnel and its main purpose is to allowing the commander to quickly construct a base with a good defensive layout (https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Base_Layout_Strategy) without having to wait for a row of normal facilities to be built — by building several Access Tunnels and later building other facilities over some of them and dismantling the rest.

The ruleset file is ready and seems to be working properly for construction per se, but I need a proper Battlescape map for this facility. Is there a ready "tile" in game resources that I can use for it? You can see what it should look like by looking at the sprite that I set for this facility: https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/BASEBITS.PCK. I used the fourth one (cross-shaped), its number is 3, as you can see from the rul file that I'm going to attach.

I temporarily used "mapName: XBASE_04" (it's Small Radar, if I'm not mistaken), but I would like a map that corresponds to the used sprite. How can I achieve that?

And by the way, how can I test a facility in Battlescape? "New battle" menu option, while allowing to select Base Defence mission, does not seem to allow customizing the base that you are going to defend, it's just default starting base. How can I test a base with a facility that is not present on the default starting base?
