Tentacle Hive question

There is something I don't understand about this mission. You send 1 gnome naked. The story log says - use this special skill untill something happens. But when I'm doing this mission there are 4 hives that either slap with tentacles doing stun damage, or try to MC the gnome - even with 94 vooddo she gets MCed anyway. The innoncent skill that I suppose to use drains her morale drastically. The only way I could win this is by kicking the tentacles until they catch some Zs. What am I missing here?
