Who are your gals?
« on: March 29, 2025, 04:27:46 pm »
Starting up a new game to go with the new update, and as I was going through my list of gals, I started to wonder how other players make their crew.  Do you import the gals from a variety of shows, books, and other entertainment media, or do you leave them as they are named, and let them grow organically?
Myself, I like to import, since it helps me get an idea for what their character is like, and its always fun to see certain characters in this situation.  When I play Xcom files, I like to keep them in the modern setting, but here I try to get them from post apocalyptic stories or sci-fi.  Problem is I usually end up running out, so I start to grab from others, like superheroes and the like.  Also, by sticking to famous series, I can make fun AI slop """""art"""" to go with the characters.
Uber and peasant girls are fairly easy, and many of them look similar to actual characters to make it an easy switch (seras from hellsing, storm from x-men, etc).  Then grab from post apocalyptic and sci stories, like cowboy bebop, tales of future past (for xmen), and others and you are good to go.  Likewise, the boys are extra easy, given the wealthy of story material to draw from.  Conan, samurai jack, and the fist of the north star himself are currently in my game, and I'm waiting for another hero event to pop up so I can get judge dredd.  Cat girls are a bit trickier, since despite the popularity of the genre there's a limited selection.  So far, Catra from She-ra and Aisha clanclan from outlaw star are competing for most kills, while a trio of tourists were named after josie and the pussycats.
But what do you fine folk do, and if you do grab from series, what series are good for you?

I name them Red, Green, Blue, Yellow... and then I change their hairstyles to reflect this color. Makes it very easy to tell who's who lol

For most cases I'm quite happy with default XPz names, because they are fun and memorable as is. Sometimes, though, then particular crew member makes something extraordinary, he can earn some  transformation. E.g. then "True Shield" (intended to be kind of sniper) missed five or so *true* shots  in row it was demoted to "True Shit", dropped unsuitable pathos btw.

Since they escaped from a lab I call them Sample  01 to 06, and then I give them all the white/gray hairs.
