Sky Ninja's Airfield - advice
« on: March 16, 2025, 08:15:02 pm »
Hi.

I'm looking for advice how to tackle Sky Ninja's Airfield. What would be the required tech to safely invade it (guns, armor, etc). Is the zone of approach always a danger zone? I've found out that the guards in the bunkers can see you from the start.

Your spawn is always in front of the bunkers.

Tanks handle it without any trouble unless you get really unlucky. Blue armor is less safe but still fine.
If you want to do an airfield ASAP for some reason, armored cars and tac armor is enough but not safe. I would not bother on anything less.

Something to crack open the bunkers will make it much easier, so you can go after the warriors inside them before progressing instead of letting them pop out and shoot you.

To safely invade it, you need strong enough armor, which means tanks. But if you're feeling brave, there do exist other strategies.

The minimal tech strategy involves bringing a CONVOY full of ubers in BRAINER outfits, with maxed out TU, Strength and Throwing, and/or catgirls with CAMO PAINT /CAT. Why these two outfits? Because with their anti-camo/camo they outrange the night vision of Ninja Warriors. NIGHT OPS is also possible with Nightingale 2+, and preferred so you aren't gimped with 1h weapons. So you attack the base at night, you take out the light balls (with DB Shotgun) on your spawn, and then attack Ninja Warriors from 14 (cats from 10) tiles away. Throwing Hammers, Throwing Axes, Javelins are all effective weapons. You rush next to the bunkers, kneel so that that turrets can't shoot you. Next turn you open up the bunker walls and defeat the rest of the Ninja Warriors inside. Then you use these bunkers for camping and take out the rest of the base.

Thanks for the advice. So cammo is one major thing and tanks other. Though I have a question about their vision, because when I tried a night attack and tried using smokescreen, they saw me either way. Also how to deal with them throwing masters? Because I had the opportunity to encounter grenade throwers from the other side of the map (and pretty accurate too). Do the ninjas have like 100% Thermal vision or something, or is it all because of those glowing balls?

They have 35% thermal vision, so they ignore 1/3 of the smoke, while you ignore nothing. So smoke is only advantageous to them. Glowing balls only make light. Obviously it's pretty bad if you're standing in light and they're not. As for the throwers, that's why I mentioned rushing next to the bunkers. Since you're spotted at the beginning of the fight, the sniper game mechanic allows enemies to freely shoot at you and throw grenades from beyond visible range. For at least 2 turns. So don't stand out in the open when you know you've been spotted.

To add to the above, you need gas masks if your armor doesn't have them, and you need cigars as well. Poison grenade spam from across the map is absolutely ludicrous since there are no obstacles.

If you are using rum as your main medkit type (generally a good idea), consider bringing extra advanced medpacks too, since they have better stims.

Upgraded fortresses are basically impossible to do cleanly because of the nuclear mortar spam, so better do the airfields with subpar equipment than let them sit and upgrade.

Ok, so I've invaded the Ninjas Outpost, at night with Brainer outfit for gals, and cammo for Gnomes/Cats. And despite being 19+ tiles away chucking fire grenades to have light I still was visible to the ninjas and their grenade spam. So what gives?

This is the spot I've landed so at the edge and no lights to remove my concealment I moved all to the corner but meh, turn 2 = grenade spam

It took me 60 turns to win this, but this leads me to believe that invisibility doesn't wokr for the player at all.

Here is another example that makes think what I said. Same mission different turn layout. I've moved my gals behind this building and was not spotted.

I've chucked some fire grenades to have light advantage over AI. On AI turn a Ninja Gal was going in my direction but with reaction fire she was killed. I've counted the tiles and she died ~18-20 tiles towards nearest of my gals (cat girl with cammo). She shouldn't be able to spot me right? But I guess she did for some strange reason because next thing I've got counter grenaded. How?

I would apprieciate infromatin what is spotting me despite you know the Ninja Gals having NV of 13 and not being near 19 tiles of me. Here is the save if that will help

What I described only works if you're standing in the dark. If you're next to a fire (10 tiles from a burning tile is bright enough to count as light), then of course you're gonna get shot at, since day vision is 40 tiles.

There's also the sniper/spotter mechanics, and all ninjas are spotters, so if they see you, then for the next few turns they'll throw grenades at you no matter how far you are.

Also, the tactics for Ninja Outpost are different. For Ninja Outpost, you can bring whatever craft and armor, and just camp in there, no need for any grand assault tactics.

Well duh, but how did they spot me before throwing the fire? Please read all what I said.

You shot a spotter. Shooting a spotter marks you as spotted (unless you're using the latest OXCE, where shooting someone won't spot you if you kill them in a single attack)

So this means invisibility and staying outside of visual is useless?

Doesn't N11 uses latest or is there newer version post N11?

It's not useless. Having better night vision than them allows you to scout them without getting killed, and shooting them (with no penalty) without getting reaction fire'd on, both of which are critical if you don't have any cover.

But yes, you still need to hide for a few turns if you were spotted.

But if there is no cover, shooting them is also suicidal. If I shoot outside their visual, but still get spotted doing so, and without cover the granade spam from other galaxy will come.

Yeah so, shoot them after you have cover to retreat to.
