Difficulty bug
« on: May 19, 2013, 08:50:51 pm »
I have installed openxcom 0.9 over "X-Com : Enemy Unknown" from X-Com Collector's Edition. Everything runs great (even though some texts are untranslated and some text strings are missing - e.g. build times of facilities).

The problem is that I am still getting the difficulty bug. I started the game on SH but I am definitely not playing SH right now.

What could be the cause of this?

Thanks in advance. I would love to play the game to the bitter end. :)

what makes you think that?
the difficulty bug doesn't exist in OpenXcom.

open your saved game in any text editor and look at line 11.
difficulty: 0 indicates beginner, difficulty: 4 indicates superhuman.

Maybe you are just too good!!

try only using pistols or just doing night missions :P by the way night mission will make you think twice about the statement ;)

Difficulty is 4 but at the end of my second month I have encountered only 8 UFOs, sectoids only, plasma pistols only (1 heavy plasma, no rifles) and large scouts with 6 crew members.

I expected heavier resistance.

Edit: Hmm, upon reloading everything seem OK. Floaters on second mission - with plasma rifles and everything. Strange.

There was a bug with 2x attacking intensity.
Actually that send me into a thought, that we should make this timing depending on difficulty level. But it should be tested, if it really possible to beat that game with 2x faster ufos. We might ask developers to make variable which will vary mission-period.
