Cannot destroy proximity grenade on ground

I can remove proximity grenades with a normal grenade explosion in UFO Defense, but in TFTD the particle disturbance grenade does not get destroyed when I do that. Is this a difference between TFTD and UFO Defense? Has it always been like that? Is there a workaround?

TFTD items have higher "armor" and are thus tougher to destroy.

For example UFO proxy grenades have armor=20 (default), but TFTD particle disturbance grenades have armor=90.

This can be modded.

So in other words, I have to chuck a second grenade on it

A standard grenade does not have enough power to penetrate that armor.

You need something more powerful.

Can you shoot at it if you have something powerful enough? Or does it have to be explosive?

Hey, Yann, I tested it out. I shot at an armed proximity grenade with the most powerful, non-explosive weapon I had, the Heavy plasma. It did not destroy it.
