I finished my list! I'm happy to do something for OpenXcom. Wish I had mad coding skills so I can help you guys finish the game! But I'm only an appliance salesman.

Anyways, Spanish names for King Sup!

Also added a pic I found. Steampunk X-COM, I think.

IT's called the Mudranger, that's coool! Good for NKF, I love pixel art. I hope he's also a member on these forums. Does he have more pixel art? perhaps a deviantART page?

So the aliens would not only infiltrate governments for a "peace treaty", but they would also infiltrate factions, mafias, and biker gangs for disruption in the major cities. It's a great idea, I love it!  Especially in the USA, we have many many gangs, groups, and societies which would want to take over the city if the local governments fell. One Chinese politician wrote an article about it says if they were to take over the USA by military force, they gotta deal with those gun groups and gangs. Small they may be, they won't go down without a fight.

Obviously, Aliens don't care about the human population or even anti-social gangs with armory, so they wouldn't have "on the table" negotiations, they would just use their mind control to "convince" the gangs to aid the aliens by becoming anti-humans! Just kill kill kill or do labor for setting up the alien bases and then becoming "part of the environment".
Luke you're awesome, you're gonna make this game even more deadly to my Operatives! They're getting out of the Skyranger and suddenly see a biker with an AK-47 firing at you next to a Sectoid or Snakemen! Holy shit! I imagine the movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", emotionless humans acting as if part of the hivemind taking orders until it dies. The Sectoids function as a hive-like society too.

I have a suggestion. I think you should make these gangs and factions fair game for the Terror units, like the Chryssalid and the Reaper. Those guys won't tell the difference and see humans as food or hatchery, so they'll attack on sight. Would that make sense? The reapers are under the control of the floaters, but as it says on the Wikia, "The primitive predatory instincts of this creature are of little use except to terrorize and destroy."

Last one. We should also be able to take one of those badly mind controlled gangsters with us for examination so the results would give us another plot device and clue to what else the aliens are doing on Earth.

I also really like your idea about Sectoids or Ethereal using civilians as soldiers. The first thing that popped into my head was that a Sectoid would prime an alien grenade for 3 turns, then throw it at a civi. Then the other alien would mind control that civi to pick up the grenade and take those 3 turns to look for an X-COM Operative and just wait right next to them until... BOOM! That's evil, isn't it ><.

Holy shit! You're an awesome pixel artist, Luke!! It's so freakin detailed man I love it! I want it!

I like your idea about having an APC showing up out of nowhere to aid a crashed UFO. Would they be on mind control or are they just a bunch of local religious radicals? I'm sure the aliens don't care unless the radicals are being mind controlled directly.

I also always wondered where the country farmers were in the farmland maps. Have them show up on the map once in awhile as a hostile unit for both sides and since it isn't a terror mission, it doesn't matter whether you stun him or kill him, even if he's mind controlled by Sectoids or Ethereal, because you're far out in country land.
Would be crazy coming out of the Skyranger to be greeted by a frenzied farmer and his shotgun. I know some country people I avoid because they shot first, ask questions later when you step into their property. They should do the same in the game, lol.

Yep, who knows. It is a lot of work to create but it was fun to think about and write it out.

I also like that idea of airborne Stargates.

One day, one day...

Work In Progress / The X-COM Stargate Community Mod... Get in here!
« on: October 23, 2012, 01:00:04 am »
This something I was thinking about today. The X-COM Stargate mod is a badass mod idea that promotes adding another Sci-Fi element into X-COM to exploring new hostile envirnments far, far away from Planet Earth and making good use of the TftD aliens and tile sets so we don't have to make everything from scratch. So here's the Stargate Community Idea.

  • Every new game will have two or more Stargates on Earth (you can add more on your option settings) and the location of the Stargates will always be randomized(You can always choose the exact locations if you want to, again through the option settings).

  • The aliens will already know about the Stargates but will take there time to capture them. You won't learn about the Stargates unless you interrogate a specific high-ranking alien whose mission is to capture a Stargate or locate and capture the(new map) Alien Ancient Ruins Base that currently controls a Stargate. The Aliens won't have a super hard underground base, because alien bases are annoying in the beginning, so the Aliens will be on the Surface in an Ancient Ruins map mixed with Alien tech and the Stargate looking cool in the middle.

  • Once you capture the location by eliminating all hostile aliens, you will automatically get a notice about the Stargate's existence and you'll be allowed to research it in the Research Science Lab.

  • Now that you have a Stargate, you can start creating your new base to secure the Stargate for research and exploration!! Be prepared for base invasions as they'll attempt to recapture the Stargate every few months. The X-COM base stays underground for awesomeness, so just imagine the Ancient Ruins inside a large fence to keep non-government personnel out and a huge tent over the Stargate and for security to monitor the surface.

  • After the research has been completed, (and I assume the research for a special suit to protect you from strange germs and bacteria)you can now attempt use the Stargate to send X-COM Operatives through to discover what's on the other side! I've never watched the T.V series so I don't know if you're supposed to enter exact coordinates or just power it up so that it sends you to another Stargate.

  • This is where we need to start making a bunch of random maps of otherworldly swamps, forests, caverns, ice worlds, even hellish looking areas. We'll also need to make unique hostile and peaceful alien creatures for every map, and you won't know which animal creature is hostile until you send it to the Science lab, so every new game is going to be different. This would be perfect to add the Aliens and Tiles from "Terror from the Deep"! This way, it's not so much work making new sprites and tiles out of scratch and just need a master coder AKA "The Man" to make this happen!

  • While exploring through the Stargate, you may come across another Ancient Ruins to explore or an abandoned base now owned by insectoids... You might even find the Snakemen in their natural habitat.

  • If you come across an unstoppable force that's killing all your soldiers, you'll be able to have your remaining Operatives head back into the Stargate to abort the mission. That said, you might come across very deadly enemies that would force you to abort the mission. One of these situations might have a pack of tough Predator Hunters like the movies. Another could have Rhino-like creatures that will charge at you. You might get your soldiers infected by a creature carrying a contagion that will force you to pull out if you can't contain the infected away from your healthy Operatives. So don't expect to be able to clear an area the first time you cross a Stargate.

  • After you secure the Stargate location on the other side of the universe, your science and scavenger team can securely set-up shop like any other mission to show you what you helped gather, just like any other mission. Through the Stargate, will you find new unique items and weapons that may or may not be of use after research, maybe even find some Elerium-115.

  • I'd also like to see a very very rare map for lucky players, where you cross through and meet a hostile alien humanoid race using the Stargate to capture live rare species from all over the universe. Once you eliminate every Pirate from outside the Stargate and inside the ship landed nearby, you get to keep everything they captured and keep the rare weapons they have and even scavenge the ship for parts but through research you find out it's not useful since you can't duplicate the tech with your Earthly resources. Sell everything for high value :D

  • I'm thinking we can add benefits for holding a Stargate every month, so it's not just for playing on new maps. I'm not sure though... Nothing that would make the game too easy. Maybe give you more points at the end of the month? I don't know ><

So that's it! You guys can take this and mold it to whatever you feel is right. I had fun thinking this up. I've never watched the T.V series and I should now that I'm daydreaming about Stargates and X-COM.

Neat! I would really love to hear foreign languages too since it doesn't matter what they say. Like Italian or Spanish, or Japanese or Thai. Would be really neat to have the same with female voices ;)

Lol @ the my lord video XD

Creating Androids is a really cool idea! I would love to see that!

I would also like to see Operatives with Alien DNA in the very late-game. Make it possible through time consuming research of course and decide which lucky Operatives get injected and it'll have strange effects where it might make them weak in some areas but their Psionics will be powerful and as time passes, they'll start changing into a hybrid with alien skin and darker eyes that give them other minor benefits. Downsides could be lower lifespan and/or uncontrollable epileptic seizures(in base only) preventing your Operative to go on a mission for a few days, but through more long long term research you'll be able to create the perfect Hybrid Operative. I watch a lot of X-Files :D

Add some evil element to it, where you can't go into the Alien DNA research (after animal testing, which shows great results) unless you agree to experiment on unwary citizens from where ever they were kidnapped from. Your employees are too valuable to experiment on, so it's a moral choice and as secret Organization, it would be evil cool to have that kind of science going on if you decide to go with it for role-playing, lol. Would it be a necessary evil?

Anyways, great to be here waiting anxiously for the next release, and I hope I can support the modders with my positive posts!

Edit:

I would love to see a HUGE variety of weapons with different Ranks and at the start of a game hit a RANDOM Tech button to start a game not knowing what tech will become available or what tech the aliens start with. Mabye in some HUGE combo game ( mix UFO and TFTD and Fan creations  into one huge game) .

Great idea too!
