Released Mods / Re: Terrain Pack considerations
« on: November 26, 2019, 09:19:43 am »
This is my first non-polite post in many years that I frequent the community and yours is the most offensive one I read.

It seems you are smart man, so why do think my post is offensive? Look deeper in the question.
No one shows disrespect to his creation, and I hope everyone knows it. The question is about damn money, as it always was during all humankind history. ;) Once again: no one sells it's mods, donations are voluntary. Why not?

As for me, you are right - I'm just a customer, an unknown common gamer. But I donated some significant amount of money to the creator of one mod, because this thing grants me a lot of fun, which I haven't had from many and many so-called AAA commercial games. And yes, as a customer I don't like the possible consequences which could happened. That's why I wrote here my post. Hobbes wanted to know the opinion of community members? Here is one of it, no less no more.

Off-topic: Thanks the God the Alphabet has no living creators and they do not contribute anything for their creation. ;D

...Man, no one downplays the importance of your work, and all adequate guys who develop their mods and use your work, always give a credit to yours. What's the problem at all? Are you offended that some mods are more popular than yours (sorry, but it is a fact)? Are you offended that someone leave a link to donations, and you didn't? Is that their problem or yours? Donations are voluntary, and no one sells their works!

Sorry, but your statement sounds like the cry of an aggrieved boy. Review all the facts and you'll see that nothing criminal there. Good luck!

When you shoot down last guy, he goes down alive, bleeding...why is he counted as dead when battle ends? When someone is bleeding for 2 turns or more and battle ends, he is captured, isn't he?

As far as I understand, if the value of critical wounds equal or more than HP left, it counts as killed by the end of a last turn. The same thing with that guy who have been bleeding for several turns.

Well i can't remember interogating anthropod gave me anything...
Uh, i can't imagine start all over again... are you sure its worthy? Btw what difficulty should i start? Veteran was challenging a little bit at start, but quite fast it became very easy. I've played superhuman before, but that made some missions "first turn unsurviable" and i had incoming UFO every 30mins, so game was unplayable totally.

It is worthy indeed. As for me, I like 1.0 much more, than 0.9. Many things was changed, many things was rebalanced... The whole game became a bit more difficult, but nothing really critical. I've started on superhuman (while it was beta-version). Now it is the 1st of october 1999, everything is going very well.  :)

I had a mission "they came from the sea" and some guys were armed with baseball bats. They were not my prime targets since there was more deadlier targets so many tourists and bikini girls ended unconscious.
I wondered if they counted as dead at the end of the mission or as saved ?

Saved. Moreover, if you have a good opportunity and nothing threaten you, stun them by yourself.

I'm playing 0.9.9e.... i've recently managed to capture Cyber battleship, text said that Council took its command and moved it to dim X base to defend it. I thought thats end of Dim X missions, or at least end to some kinds, so i'm quite surprised that i'm still getting "defend Dim X base". It doesn't make much sense and i think that should be changed... unless Council lied about that battleship, everything is possible at X-COM files :D.

Everything is okay. After that you defend your base against common monsters of Dimension X, not Cyberweb. Just imagine, what would be if you didn't interrogate anthropod before and Dimension X arc closed forever?

But if say that... Start a new game with 1.0. There are much differences between 0.9 and 1.0. in global scenario. 0.9 left in the past... ;)

OK, I seem to have misunderstood something here. Is interrogating Aliens supposed to get me to Promotion 3? Because it isn't doing that.

UFOs have started showing up and I've been jumping on them like crazy. I quickly captured a Sectoid and interrogated it, followed by Alien Origins. However, I'm not getting Summary Report research.

Looking at the Tech Viewer, it would appear that I need "Deep One communities" (haven't had many missions with them, but OK), "Cyberweb portal systems" (no idea what this is supposed to be), and "Into the dark" (which seems to be connected to the Hidden Caves missions. Also, I apparently NEED to destroy at least one Cult.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. It's my fault I didn't get all my shit done in time. I just want to confirm that I'm not missing something here. Because if I need to get ALL the listed prerequisites, I'll probably restart my campaign. I'm kinda holding my own against the initial waves of Aliens, but my gear is woefully inadequate already, and if I have no hope of getting Prom3 for at least a few more months (as UFOs have replaced a lot of the events I need to get the stuff), it's not looking good...

Re-read my first post. One interrogated alien and one destroyed cult. That's enough.

Chtonite minibase and Hybrid Control Center count as an alien base or not? Capturing them didn't gave to me Stormtrooper commendations.

No. It would be too trivial, not much of a mission at all.

So, do you like stupidness of civilians' AI?

Guard against ninja attacks with drone reaction fire on enemy turn.

Because they can do only an aimed shot, reaction shots with drones are unavailable.
Good tactics is to put some soldiers and 1 drone in one place, then make scouting runs with drone out for 15-20 tiles (depends of terrain type) and back to initial position (use sprint - press Ctrl while moving). Follow this for a 3-4 turns, and if there no result go find them, but move for a short distance per turn (10 tiles). OR... You can just skip for 20+ turns, and enemies will start finding you by themselves.  :) It is not very fun and spend a lot of readiness, but it is reliable and safe.

Mission "Syndicate Assassination". Please, make Council Commissionaire controllable by player, like you did with David Vincent.

If there were like 2 left in the end and no idea where, oh that hurt... >_>

Yes, in most of missions such situation comes very often, and this is the time of drones.  :)

Yes, Poet is 100% on point. :)

Depending on your playstyle, it can be a significant help, compared to no Readiness system.

Oh, so the readiness itself is a bonus, right?  ;D

Research AI units as fast as you can. Scout drones can see assassins much farher than your soldiers because of thermal vision. Take a couple of drones on the mission and scout with them. But be carefull.
