just had a very interesting mission on a boat with a certain dr.
like it ^^

but my rat ran quickly out of energy. thought its supposed to be a scout? how can it have so bad energy regeneration then? >_>
ergo, rats are front line assassins.
what do you think the R in AR-15 stands for? its "rat"!  ;D
ever heard of H.A.I.R.? Heavy Assault Infantry Rats? they´re gonna be doombringers...  8)

I have a rat that cannot attack vertically...
says noone there, but there is.
Could it be because 0 energy? (though no energy cost is stated, and it does not say "not enough energy")

EDIT: apparently reloading that save fixed it. weird thing, but OK...

These are rats though. Scouts.
To put that in perspective, my (normally sized) rats shredded a golf ball in mere minutes.
A small-dog-sized rat could bite through bone.
I was planning to max out some rats and clear some UFOs with it, but the constant 10 bite dmg is a very big obstacle... even though they do gain strength and melee skill.
Just to see the pixeled face of some sectoids with their advanced tech and such, landing on earth and get taken out by 2 dozen rats...  ;D

Work In Progress / Slime gun [idea]
« on: March 21, 2020, 10:18:41 pm »
so xcf has the canister gun, which fires various fluids.
Idea would be to add a slime ammo, which severely decreases TUs and reactions, like a flashbang. possibly for multiple turns.
It´d be useful for a lot of situations, e.g. catching stuff alive or a certain kind of japanese animated entertainment...  :P
But how to implement that?

Since rats benefit too from the commendations (and training)... how about a power bonus formula on bite?
These are giant rats... if you take a giant pouched rat as example, they can easily bit off a finger at baby age. But they´re smart... and growing stronger...
Some advanced bite techniques or at least strength bonus on bite seem adequate  ;)
Never noticed before... but are they supposed to have full inventory capabilities? I can imagine a rat sized backpack, but I cannot imagine a minigun magazine fitting in it...
(poor rat would have a hard time carrying anyway)
and while we´re at it... ninja training for rats? master splinter anyone?  8)

Safehouses are always safehouses. Bigger variants are called "outposts" and "bases" respectively.

If you've seen otherwise, then it would be a bug, but this element of the mod is so old and tested that I doubt there is a problem... Still, if that's the case, please post a save.

then it was probably a base, my mistake.
In other news though, a red dawn base actually had me take cover and flank instead of just staying open and fire for the first time... maybe they finally learned something ^^
(its the combination of landing point and their grenade use. the long range firearms don't really do much it seems)
EDIT: to clarify, they do a lot better with MGs and sniper rifles than with short range weapons. But those don't change the situation the slightest...

Don't even think about it ^^
6% vs 1% (or less) makes a tremendous difference when you´re firing in 15 shot salvos... ;)

(big outpost building, all of them inside)

didn't you know that once you get the military advisor he actually assembles and even polishes every bullet by hand himself? ^^

doesn't that just mean that the actual percentage would need to be calculated in relation to the source/target geometry?
Not saying its easy. Or even feasible. ^^
But hella sure it is possible to give a proper hit percentage for any kind of shot.

But thanks for the info. Was wondering why several +100% shots didnt hit...
Basically this means, regardless of displayed hit chance, reduce circular error probability when lining up for a shot. makes sense.

Are you planning to change the weapons of the Cult of the Apocalypse? It is very strange to see bikers and cavemen armed with high-tech weapons.
IMO kinda fitting. if you´re that insane that you join cult of apoc, you might be crazy enough to dress like a caveman and wield a shotgun or assault rifle...  ;D
Hell i wouldn't be surprised if they throw with sticks of butter and some turn out to be c4...

With just bones and bike chains they might be a bit too easy to kill though. Even if its really pointy bones.

Please tell me how to open a Gauss weapon? I have almost passed the game, my fighters have long been armed with plasma, but I have not seen a Gauss weapon. Also, what should I do next? I've already destroyed 3 alien embassies, launched a satellite to the moon, saved M. A. G. M. A. astronauts, and I don't know what to do next. Apocalypse, Dagon, Lotus, Dawn, EXALT are destroyed. The syndicate is almost destroyed, leaving only the storming of the headquarters. I didn't do any underground or underwater missions at all. What do you need to do to open a mission to storm the alien base on the moon? I'm tired of shooting down endless UFOs. It became very boring.
gauss:
Spoiler:
MiB uses them. Kill some of those...
Final mission:
Spoiler:
You were at the source already. Embassies have some really cool ethereals you wanna catch living. But in the end you need a living eth commander though, probably only chance would be battleship.
I do agree the endgame is kinda drawn out though, since it depends on waiting for many very specific things and there´s just tons of missions/ufos which are basically fillers by then.

Is it possible that certain firemodes require 1 or 2 hands?
E.g. pistol aimed shot may need 2 hands on non-light pistols... Or generally rifles for aimed shots.
Not that its required, just thought it might be a neat idea.
Imagine an aimed straight-arm shot from a magnum or desert eagle. Well better use 2 hands.
Aimed shot with a rifle with 1 hand? Not gonna happen. Unless its a sawed off.  ;)
