why not make it work like that:

Alien will remember any soldier he spots in his field off view for N turns where N = intelligence, other aliens are not aware of these soldiers
Alien will make other aliens remember any soldier he spots in his field of view for K turns where K = group intelligence (new alien stat)
Alien will pass his memory of soldiers to any other alien that is with his field of view for M turns, where M = telepathy (new alien stat, optional, very complex to implement but could be helpfull to create chain of memory strategy for aliens, so xcom can pass grenades and aliens could pass positions of xcom soldiers that way)

So IQ =  5 and Group IQ = 1, means that alien will remember spotted soldier for 5 turns + he will make other aliens remember them for additional 1 turn

Using this engine we could implement standard behavior from X-COM but also bring much more for mods.

Folks,

I made my mod but its unfinished / Work in process. I am sharing it as i don't have time to work on it anymore. It was designed to be used with my own build based on nighties, at least it was working in January.

Most of the content is taken from forum, i just tweak it a bit. So most of the credits are actually to you ;)

I change almost every aspect of the game so there are new maps, new globe, new units, new weapons etc...  purpose was not to make a mod but to learn all about modding the game it self. My idea was to create a community mod but idea failed.

Programming / how to externalize all MCD data ?

1) Is it possible to load all data from MCD files using MCDPatch + png files exported by MCD Editor ? Do not ask me why i need it :) Just i wonder if this is possible using current night build.

2) If not possible does anyone really need such functionality or is it just me ?

i can try to create another fork and add such requests to master to be used on your ideas. What do you have in mind exactly ?

i am not sure if this will help you but... i will give a try :-)

in my fork https://github.com/Bladum/OpenXcom i merged several different improvements from other devs (guys you are awesome !!) and try to keep code similar to vanilla to still get fixes from standard.

I have two main rules about this fork:

1) fork that supports a community edition with single mod that is non configurable. This means all players have similar experience. There is no need to maintain vanilla compatibility or other mods compatibility. Mod that is using all new features is already inside the repo, actually if you look into resources it has completely "singleton" structure.

2) i do not judge if feature is vanilla or not neither if this is needed or not nor do i like it or not. I just judge how much time it will take or if it will break any standard inside code for any future growth. So if you have any requests which are not breaking the game from technical point of view, then i am glad to add them. I do not care if there are 10 or 100 aliens unless performance drops a lot.

If you think this will help you in achieving your goal then lets talk about it.

If not just ignore my post.... and sorry for wasting a minute for reading this ;)
