Suggestions / Ground Elevation

As requested. Moved to Suggestions

An Idea for after v1.0

In the old xcom the ground elevates suddenly and unnaturally.  Of cause this is acceptable seeing when xcom1 was made.  What is the possibility to implement tile elevation like in Alpha Centauri?

1) Corner tiles are handled differently in SMAC.  The whole tile is skewed rather then only a half of the tile like in Xcom.
2) Instead of elevating a whole square like in Xcom, SMAC only elevates the corners of tiles.  This gives the map more variety.
3) The gradient of SMAC's tiles is about 50% of Xcom's,  this gives it a smoother appearance.

A little tweaking of the code and drawing of some additional tiles then it should make a noticeable difference!

Hey Daiky

A note on the Xcom soldier picture you posted.

Are the soldier pictures not candidates to be redrawn?  In the original resolution they looked fine, but in higher resolutions the proportions seems off.

Just a quick background.  I am not avid Xcom fan like most of you.  I played xcom for the first time only recently.  But I'm very interested in the development process.  Don't know why, but developing is more interesting than gaming atm.  Get easily bored.  :P I am doing some research on the xcom system and started compiling a complete (sensible) wishlist that xcom fans made across different remake websites ect.  From this wishlist ill design a possible design how a faithful xcom remake/(successor?) should look like.  (Not as if im a pro.  Just for my own amusement)

I'll be in touch.

If I would have to re-implement this I would just remove the "set timer" screen entirely.

I would keep the timer for the proximity & HE bombs and for possible future implementations.
Although your priming example looks interesting it will needlessly complicate matters.  I would just let the grenade detonate on impact.

Looks good so far.  One question: do the numbers represent turns?  If so should we not lower it? A number range over 10 (perhaps even 5) seems a bit overkill.  ;D

On a relevant topic of resolutions and such:  I take it that after v1.0 we will start implementing Higher resolutions.  If so, the menus will have to edited as well.

Do we plan to make any changes to the menus itself? Or will everything stay the same just polished to hell (or heaven in this case) and back?
