Ninja Bases are still easy enough since they can't really one-shot your tanks and usually not even the armored vehicle. Since you get the first round to take out one or two of their main Turrets (Laser armored vehicle's are sufficient to soften them up for a one round kill). Look forward to the Marsec Gunships with their mobile infantry while still being stuck on mid-tier Lasers and Low tier Plasma if you can't unlock school graduation.

Many thanks, not much experience in the groundwork, but inserting that in OpenXcom\user\mods\Piratez\Ruleset seemed straight forward enough.

That's good to know, thanks.
But do you happen to know which rul file? I can't seem to find any position in Piratez.rul, alienDeployments.rul, allianMissions.rul, missionScripts.rul that seems fitting to insert this and all of them exist in multiple versions. There's also many more rul files that don't seem relevant at all, not all of which I have searched yet.

you mention mortar as being available, WP rounds can eventually chew through the turrets. not only 80% armor pen, but also not insignificant armor shred so even a low roll will still make successive shots more likely to succeed. Also no need for LOS which limits return fire with a little luck with map spawning.
That sounds easier than what I did (killing one main turret with a sniper rifle from the tower windows to escape counter attacks, while storming the forstress with melee fighters fighting the way to the top and knocking out the other main turret with that force saber I got very early from a star god on a small smugler ship, works as well but you need a lot of ammo for the sniper).

While everything relevant has been said already, as a side note, the stronghold will be two missions at once, so don't be too wastefull on the first map (though the first part seemed harder to me due to less cover in the beginning).

Well I guess that means hoping that whatever is needed for Savage queen will pop up, since I'm curently at the end of the tech line and the only mission type that didn't pop up yet is the underground temple (due to the name Savage Queen I did hope for the hunting party stone age Equipment missions, but it doesn't seem so)

Hi, I'm playing the game for the first time and have a question I didn't manage to find in the archive.
As I play the first time, I went with the "first disagree with everything" route, which means no Tiny Drill and seemingly no Codex colour. Looking at the tech tree I'd like to know if this completely excludes researching Crowning, Diplomacy and School Graduation or if Savage Queen alone is enough and obtainable without the drill. Also if the Savage Queen is available, I still don't know how. Is there a special requirement or does it pop up eventually? There doesn't seem to be a research requirement.
