Which is fine because downloading the standalone OXCE stuff works just fine.

It might not be corrupting the .exe.  The one provided with Piratez is the 64-bit version, and I myself have to DL the 32-bit version separately.

L1A1 - That takes me back.  I fondly remember firing an L1A1 (though we just called it the SLR) in basic training.  Kicks like a f***ing mule and can break your collar bone if you haven't got it held right, but has longer range than the SA80.  Plus the mags didn't fall out.

I don;t know if this a bug or a map problem.  I had a Bank Robbery mission last night without the bank!  Kiilled all the Guild guys anyway and got some stuff, but no treasure chests or anything like that.

When building my bases I put my first one in Siciliy or Sardinia as it covers most of Europe and the Med.  Once I get interceptors I use the main base for research and as the main base for my Menace-class ship.  I then put a fighter/radar base in the Balearics to cover the main base.  I put my other bases (fighter, production, large prison etc) in as equidistant areas around the globe as possible, with each base having one or two fighters as well as addons for the large prison etc (one base for each).  The large prison base also serves as the casino once I get the research and resources for that (robbing prisoners is a great source of blue chips).  The factory base doesn't have radar, but does have defences and only one hangar for producing ships which leaves room for additional storage modules.

I played a few missions last night/early this morning, and the new maps are better than the Hobbes ones.  Like the new globe too as you can get a better idea of what terrain you'll be facing when you do a mission.

Dioxine's thrown you a curveball with his new L1 update just a day after you updated your mod!  The strongman armour is in this version.

I had a problem with this.  The game kept crashing on loading with a warning about 'ss_strongman_armour not found' (or something similar, I can't remember exactly.  A solution I found was to go into the mod's rul file and delete the reference to strongman armour and now it works fine.  Must be a k2/k3 difference as I have k2 and have never seen strongman armour.

my soldiers seriously need more powerful weapons than Jet Harpoons to deal with deep sea horrors.

I've tried to play this three or four times but have given-up before the end of the first year because of the useless weapons, even on the easiest setting.  Lasers on the surface are ok, but underwater-wise we need better early weapons (and aquanauts that didn't go to the Stormtrooper School of Shooting).

I logged on today with no difficulty. so the problem seems to have resolved itself.  I did clear the cache in my browser, so maybe that helped.  If it re-occurs I'll do as you asked.

what was the issue? what error your browser shown?
and +/- time of the issue.
i will verify this with my ISP

It happened again today.  The message I got (latest Firefox browser) was: failed to load openxcom.org.  Then something about failure to load or recognise cookies (can't remember exactly).

Anyway, once I access the site through the VPN then go back to 'normal' web the site loads ok.  I think it might be something wrong with the settings on my browser and not the site itself actually, although other sites load ok.

Seems like the website still has problems.  I can't get on the site at all using normal web from the UK, but I can using a VPN.  It's a workaround, but not ideal of course.


Edit: Ten minutes later and it's working fine.  Ignore my earlier comment.
