Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

The Asian Coalition and Scandinavia have just joined the Euro-Syndicate and Free China in their cooperation with the aliens. Violent clashes have already been reported in both nations, and the international community has begun to fear that civilisastion may soon be nearing the brink of collapse. With financial markets coming down all around the world, it appears that the planet has begun to enter the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and the 1999 stock market crashes during the First Alien War.

In other news, Filipino independence insurgents have just attacked another military base in their effort against the aliens. With the situation continuing to deteriorate, Free China has thrown around accusations that Neo-Japan may be trying to fund the insurgents in an attempt to force them to restore assistance to X-COM. Stay tuned for further updates!

*gulps* Well, looks like we are in a race against time now. :(

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

X-COM forces have just managed to successfully assault an alien colony near the coast of Borneo, as reported by passing sailors in the area. The attack was described as a success, but "at great cost to our troops". With X-COM having yet to give up in fighting the aliens, time will tell whether X-COM's efforts were worth the losses.

In other news, the hero of Cydonia known as Marcin Krawczyk has just passed away at the age of 64 from kidney cancer. His family expressed their grievances, as the world, except for the Euro-Syndicate and Free China, mourns the loss of one of the bravest men in human history. His funeral will be broadcast live tomorrow morning. Stay tuned for further updates!

Well, sad times.  :'( Oh well. Still waiting.... :P (Unless I have not seen it yet).

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

Just mere hours after the Euro-Syndicate and Free China abandoned X-COM, the Jannisar was reportedly evacuated by X-COM forces in a pitched fight before the ship was sunk by an alien submarine shortly thereafter. The survivors were returned to their homes, with Captain Connor Stevens telling reporters that "we would have been dead already if X-COM hadn't shown up". As a result, the remaining Committee member states have reportedly stepped up patrols in international waters.

*news anchor is interrupted*

This just in. I've just received word that Panama City successfully managed to repel an alien attack, despite heavy losses on both sides. However, despite X-COM's successful defence, the entire blocks of the city have been reportedly destroyed in the attack. As a result, the New Mexican government has ordered an evacuation of the city, with analysts describing the situation as "the worst humanitarian crisis since the Battles of Perth during the First Alien War". With the Panama Canal closed, economists fear that the global economy may be significantly affected, despite the loss of traffic from the Canal in previous years. Stay tuned for further updates!

Sorry about the change in format for this post. Turns out the aliens had launched two terror attacks on the same day. Well, great...... *facepalms* At least those missions were successful. Anyway, where is my non-alien related news content? :P

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

Reports from Chairman Friederich Hanz of the Euro-Syndicate and President Ji Lianbao of Free China have come in that they have supposedly begun cooperation with the aliens. Despite praise from the Cult of Sirius towards these efforts to "bring prosperity with help from our alien friends", violent clashes between local authorities and protesters have erupted in the streets of Free China and the Euro-Syndicate. As a result, analysts fear that these two nations abandoning X-COM could be "destabilising" to the international balance of power and "a grave mistake", given the nature of the aliens from the First Alien War.

In other news, Neo-Japanese naval forces have been reported in a minor skirmish with Free Chinese forces just a few hours ago, as tensions between the two have been reignited over both disputed waters since before the Second Alien War and now, their recent negotiations with the alien forces. Stay tuned for further updates!

*gulps* Well, time to rush weapons development and all that. Oh well. Non-alien related news content is still waiting. :P

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

X-COM forces have reportedly destroyed an alien colony earlier today beneath the Yellow Sea's ocean floor after a pitched fight and significant losses being reported by the organisation. Civilian ships passing through the area have confirmed an explosion that happened to shake the ships. However, X-COM has only reported one survivor from the mission, and even said survivor is said to have been injured during the fight. Local naval forces have intensified patrols over their local waters to keep an eye out for any additional bases in the region.

In other news, gauss weapons have reportedly begun appearing on the various ground forces of national governments, and some have been reported to have been sold on the black market, raising concerns of illegal arms trade across the globe. With the Second Alien War continuing to ravage Earth's oceans, it is only a matter of time until the world has become a different place, for better or worse.

:D Finally more filler/non-alien related news content! I hope you can all keep it up. :P

Regarding that space issue: everything should be explained in X-Com Interceptor lore. I can't remember much, but it takes place shortly before Apocalypse, and therefore not that long after TFTD.

So, were any non-Elerium dependent missions launched elsewhere into the Solar System or were we back to being stuck in Cislunar space?

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

The Nautica has been successfully evacuated by X-COM forces earlier today after a pitched fight in the upper and lower decks. Shortly after the engagement, the ship was sunk by a nearby alien submarine before disappearing into the ocean. The surviving personnel have already been sent back to their respective nations.

In other news, submarines from various navies across the globe have recently received weapons shipments of X-COM derived Gauss Cannons as a means to assist the organisation in hunting down alien submarines in the Earth's oceans. The new market for gauss weapons, which are technically derived from plasma weapons used during the First Alien War has finally started to see its boom in other arms manufacturers. Stay tuned for further updates!

Alright, so this is the latest update. And fine. Let us see what happens, then. :P

Negative, comrade. By 2010, al of the Earth's Elerium supply has been depleted. The last fly of an Elerium-powered craft, the Avenger, was in 2009.

But c'mon, I think that we can develop some  space craft using some Zbrite (at least, while it's still working). ???

I meant space missions without the need for Elerium. *facepalms*

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

X-COM forces have just managed to evacuate the oil tanker Volker off the coast of the island of Sumatra after clearing out alien forces from the ship, which had already started taking in water during the ensuing engagement in the upper and lower decks as a result of collateral damage to the ship's cargo. The captain was reportedly killed during the attack, though the survivors were safely returned to their respective nations.

In other news, the IMC's call for caution by ships at sea has been extended the areas of risk to all of the planet's oceans. Conventional navies have already been on alert for the past few days and are already conducting daily patrols and inspections of civilian ships as X-COM continues to battle alien forces underwater. Stay tuned for further updates!

O_o How many more shipping attacks will there be?! *sighs* This will end well. /s

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

X-COM forces have managed to successfully respond to a distress call from the oil tanker Hyperion earlier today, which came under attack by alien forces. The ship, despite being cleared of alien forces by two surviving X-COM forces in the lower deck and taking what has been reported as "significant losses" in the upper deck, was sunk shortly after two survivors, including Captain David Gregor, were evacuated. He and another employee were then brought back to their port of departure.

In other news, a series of naval engagements in the Sea of Japan/East China Sea were reported by passing ships in the area. The International Maritime Commission has already warned ships passing through the region to be on constant alert for alien attacks, alongside ships in the rest of the Pacific and Indian Oceans respectively. Stay tuned for further updates!

Sorry for the delay. Real life concerns are starting to catch up to me. Oh well. I am still waiting for that filler (unless it was already posted and I have not read it at the time of posting). I can wait, though. :(

Haha no, it's more about NASA missions to Moon/Mars/Beyond. Not so canon. But not about aliens.

Wait. Did they even attempt anything in canon after they ran out of Elerium?

It's a shame :'(
I liked very much the Australian storyline too, they were on the verge of becoming Mad Max.

At least Mad Max was barely avoided and the events of the film are (in-Universe) relegated to fiction, even though they almost turned into reality. Right? RIGHT??!!!

*chuckles nervously*

Whoa, a short Alien War! Thank you for such a enjoyable reading. I was about to suggest you an OXCE+ option useful for recovering infiltrated nations, but it finished earlier than expected. XD

Damm british traitors! And please, tell me that Mandela is alive.

Now is time to get to the Future.

I mentioned this on Discord earlier, but I will quote:

Quote
Tony Blair is voted out of office after Queen Elizabeth II dissolved Parliament and the Labour Party ceases to exist in the 2001 elections, the ANC was overthrown in 2002 in the South African Civil War, with Africa Corp taking form in the aftermath, initially as just a small PMC. The Brazilian Civil War also ended with the defeat of General Vieira and the Brazilian Federation under former President Marco Maciel, the French National Assembly enacted Article 49 of the French Constitution and successfully removed Jacques Chirac from office, who was subsequently imprisoned under the charge of obstruction of justice, treason and conspiracy. As for Australia, even though negotiations with the aliens were about to finish, they decided to pull out after X-COM began its attack on Cydonia and resumed counterinsurgency efforts against Western Australian insurgents and by 2003, reconstruction of Perth began.

Unfortunately, Mandela was martyred in the South African Civil War. ;(

Would you like sea-related filler news only? Or would you like misc news? I was writing some posts about NASA and space missions, but the First Alien War ended earlier. XD

Just as long as the aliens are not involved. :P

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!

Another attack by alien forces against Africa Corp, this time on the island Mauritius has been reportedly repelled by X-COM forces, this time with aid from local authorities. CEO Mageso has already ordered the island's corporate assets evacuated, except for military personnel. As a result, all citizens on the island are being relocated further inland in an attempt to protect them from the aliens.

In other news, national military forces operating in the coastlines have been issued newly developed gauss weapons for underwater combat, with the earliest of these pistols having already begun market sales. With the situation in Earth's oceans continuing to deteriorate, cruise liner captains have been ordered to carry these weapons in the event of an alien attack. Stay tuned for further updates!
