Subject: Operation: Poseidon After Action Report

X-COM agents were deployed to destroy the Dagonist headquarters located somewhere near the Congo-Brazzaville-DRC border, and just as we had begun to encounter some significant resistance, it got even worse as the drone units known as Cyclops and Icarus were both destroyed in the fighting, while Agent El-Amin was killed, alongside Agent Valaoritis during the fight. Our remaining agents, however, managed to survive and even clear out the base by the time the three remaining suspects had surrendered. We also managed to capture the Golden Statue that the Dagonists had so clearly worshiped and are taking it back to X-COM HQ for study.

Dagonist High Temple Destroyed in Joint French-Congolese Military Operation

French military forces have announced that a joint operation with the DRC Land Forces to attack the so-called "Dagonist High Temple" was successful earlier today and three of the Church's members were apprehended, one of which was seemingly among the top ranks of the group. Two experimental drones, alongside two Congolese soldiers were reportedly killed during the fight, and a French soldier was reported to have sustained minor injuries. With the fires still raging through the early morning and smoke being seen as far as Kinshasha. With the conflict still raging and Russia having initiated its anti-zombie operations just two days ago, it is becoming increasingly likely that they are somehow intertwined with one another. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.

Military Operations Begin Against Zombie Outbreaks in Siberia

President Boris Yeltsin announced earlier today that several zombie outbreaks in Siberia have been contained by Russian military forces, with two patrols having eliminated and contained minor zombie outbreaks in the region. As a result of this, a state of emergency has been declared in the region to minimise the risk of another zombie outbreak. We will continue to provide further updates throughout this crisis.

Subject: Duranthread Research Report

The unknown material known as "Duranthread", is a material that is similar to Kevlar in many ways...except that there is a previously unidentified compound enriching it, and thus, making it far stronger than anything currently available in Earth's arsenals. Clothing made out of this material could provide us not only with clothes with the strength of bulletproof vests, but also lighter than our current Kevlar vests. Now, we only need to find out where this material is coming from.

X-COM forces managed to eliminate a Red Dawn outpost in Siberia, and managed to capture a live Pioneer. However, during the attack, The Castillo brothers were killed, alongside Agent Nowak and two of our Scout Drones. We should be able to replace them as soon as possible, but this is a significant number of losses. Either way, there is otherwise very little of note to report.

Red Dawn terrorist outpost attacked by Russian military forces

An outpost in Siberia earlier today was reportedly attacked by our military forces, with the Red Dawn forces putting up significant resistance to the attack. As such, three soldiers were killed, and two experimental drones were lost in the operation, with a review of the operation currently underway within the ranks of our military. This is the latest in a long-drawn effort to combat terrorism and stop the threat Red Dawn poses to the world. We will update you live as this story unfolds.

BREAKING NEWS: EXALT Designated a Terrorist Group by UN

General Secretary Kofi Annan has just announced that the Secretariat of the UN has designated the organisation known as EXALT as a terrorist group following the events that unfolded in Venezuela just last week. The situation in the country still appears to be chaotic, but it would appear that the loyalist forces have stabilised the front lines in the region, while thousands of refugees are beginning to flee to nearby states and even here in the US, we are witnessing a flow of refugees. We will update you live as this story unfolds.

PRIORITY MESSAGE: X-COM: Paranormal Security Agency

Commander,

The Council has reviewed your summary report from the previous day and have decided that henceforth, you will no longer be referred to as X-COM: Paranormal Activity Unit, but as X-COM: Paranormal Security Agency. We expect you to perform as well as you did these past few months, and although this would normally take longer to authorise, the Council has deemed the destruction of Black Lotus HQ as enough justification to increase your authority.

Good luck, Commander. Time is running out. Do not disappoint us.

Sincerely,
Mikho Mayestewan

Subject: X-COM Summary Report #2

Our investigation into the matter of recent paranormal activity has given us solid proof that the "cults" are related to some kind of an extraterrestrial force which actively supports these organisations. The same extraterrestrial force seems to be behind unusual biological phenomena encountered on Earth that we were able to examine in detail. We are not yet aware of the aliens' objectives or modus operandi, but their activity appears to be coordinated and global. Considering that this activity seems to promote disorder and danger to human life, we are suggesting that the aliens should be regarded as hostile to humanity for the time being, and that greater means are necessary to gather more information regarding this threat.

Subject: Operation: Golden Death After Action Report

X-COM agents were able to locate Black Lotus HQ 20 km northwest of the city of Kitakami just to the east of Mt. Kuromori and were able to destroy the base after securing the entrance outside the building. X-COM forces also managed to secure the psionic amplifier mentioned in an earlier report. At this time, it is being shipped to EASTCOM for study. It should be noted, however, that while we managed to capture three suspects alive, two of our scout drones and Agents Carvahlo, Landa and Ljoekelsoey were all killed, while the sole survivor, Agent Berhanu, has taken near-fatal injuries. He will return to combat duty in two weeks. With the success of this operation, however, we believe that we've managed to cripple Black Lotus to the point that they could become...disorganised. It is safe to say that Black Lotus at this point is leaderless and we hope it remains that way.

Black Lotus HQ Destroyed, Japanese Government Confirms

Several fires in the near Mount Kuromori have been confirmed by the Japanese government to be what is left of Black Lotus HQ earlier today, claiming that the organisation is now "crippled beyond repair" and that the organisation's leaders have been killed in bitter corridor by corridor fighting. Three Special Assault Team officers were killed in the brutal engagement, and two experimental drones were also destroyed, with one officer still being in critical condition at this time. As a result, Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto has proclaimed victory over the Black Lotus terrorist group, though it is possible that actions could still be taken to wipe out the now-disorganised remnants of the terrorist group that a more than a year ago, had terrorised the world. We will continue to update you as this story unfolds.

Subject: Operation: Bolivar After Action Report

X-COM forces had been able to respond to an emergency phone call by President Rafael Caldera of Venezuela, during which he himself reported armed gunmen approaching his mansion. By the time we arrived, we were met with significant opposition from EXALT forces and Venezuelan military assets supporting the operation. We lost both of our drones in the process, while Agent Tae and El-Amin had sustained injuries during the fight. However, we were unable to rescue the President, and all the occupants in his mansion were brutally slaughtered during the battle. Shortly thereafter, X-COM manage to clear out the EXALT attackers and Venezuelan military forces in support of the operation. However, we've noticed that the fighting was not limited to Caracas and has since spread to the rest of Venezuela. Maracaibo is currently under rogue military control and considering that this is a period of electoral campaigning, it would appear EXALT has begun to sow the seeds for chaos in this nation...and we may have accidentally fueled it. Either way, the forces loyal to the Venezuelan Congress, which has taken emergency authority with the death of President Caldera have managed to hold onto Caracas, likely thanks to our own efforts. However, with the mansion secured...or what is left of it, we were able to leave before reinforcements from the Venezuelan forces under EXALT arrived.

In a related note, this was the first ever field use of the MiB laser weapons we had acquired during our mission to rescue Dr. Vincent and although we have expended all but one clip, it would appear that this weapon has been...useful to our forces. Now we have to find a way to manufacture our own lasers.

BREAKING NEWS: Civil War Erupts in Venezuela; President Caldera Confirmed Dead

A military coup that has been ongoing for at least several hours at this point has failed to secure the city of Caracas, although it has been confirmed that President Rafael Caldera was killed by what has been revealed to be EXALT forces aided by rogue Venezuelan military officers. The President's security detachment alongside many friends and family are also confirmed to be dead. The Congress of Venezuela has also noted that two experimental drones were destroyed in the fighting, while two soldiers were injured during the engagement. We're still attempting to confirm all these news stories as this situation is deteriorating rapidly. It is now becoming increasingly clear that Venezuela has fallen into a state of civil war. We will update you live as this series of events unfolds.

Subject: EXALT Rationale Investigation Report

Turns out that the Canadian Army soldier we've managed to capture three months ago finally gave us some insights into the rationale behind EXALT. It would appear that based on his encounters with EXALT (he was a Psiclone addict at one point according to his testimony), that EXALT is no monolithic group. If anything, it is more complex than that. Some of their elites see the aliens as a lesser of two evils, believing that Earth's governments have become corrupted by false ideologies and others see them as a source of profit much like any other government on this planet. They don't perceive this pluralism as a threat, though but rather internal discourse between different policies on cooperation with the aliens, and it doesn't affect the organisation's efficiency at all as far as we're concerned. It could be described as a sort of political darwinism - part fringe group, part corporate group, these are willing to serve their alien masters at any cost, which would likely explain his motives for attempting what he did three months ago.

Subject: The Syndicate Investigation Report

This is quite...disturbing to say the very least. This is not called the Syndicate for no reason. As far as we can tell, they are a global organisation that is in control of various global corporations, including BlackOps Industries, which has been supplying X-COM with its own weapons and equipment. It's primary objective appears to be monetising the knowledge of the aliens and alien technology at any cost, though they do seem to have a larger purpose for that: global domination. While they do have virtually unlimited assets and enjoy favouritism from some of the terrorist and criminal groups we've encountered we've been able to at least infiltrate BlackOps Industries, so that should be a start. Needless to say, this makes the aforementioned groups less of a threat and more of a nuisance in comparison. These are some interesting times indeed....
