New version is out! Enjoy.
hurrĂ ! Are small hangars/garage in there?

The user 0xEBJC has already create some mod-alike for openxcom files (posted here and even avaiable on opencom's mod io page); Dioxine himself is waiting OXCE to support it so we may have still to wait eons to see it?  :P

Blackmarch SMG is indeed nothing like MP-5, except the visual style being similar, it's chambered for something more like 10 AUTO rounds.

oh... ok so i suppose i'll have to live without that :'(

Blast From The Past

rott explosions were a nice surprise!

Took another stab at getting the Blackmarch SMG to look right. There's actually nothing wrong with the MP-5k I created. So I just stuck the laser sight, suppressor can, and stock onto it. I think the only thing that'd make it look more like an MP-5 is retracting the stock but then that doesn't make it look like it should be a 1x3 item when it is.

I think another thing that makes the whole system look like a honey badger is simply the clip. Little details count and the Blackmarch has always had a straighter thicker magazine, like an 8mm kurz or something like that. Just might be that it isnt 9mm considering it does 30 damage.

edit:
And here's a retracted version.
It looks ready for wet work.

Please mind to work on that shape too? (click) At least any chance to use it for even a new draw. Here it is with a bit of update..

I don't know if there is interest in it but if so I might publish it for people to use. I am hesitant to do so right away because it would take as much work to polish it into something usable by anyone but me as it did to write it. ;D

Please do it!At least with some usability improvement? By the way irfanview is ok so use paint.net and then convert images with the oxce palette with the former  :)

well, managed to get aseprite 0.9.5. and kinda "importing" the right palette (hopefully) and now it shaould be all right, as always the new mp5 kinda sucks but i somehow managed to bend either magazine and grip but maybe broaden a bit too much the barrel, anyway hope it might be a good base for your work! See attachment

there are also some online alternatives, like:

pixilart -  https://www.pixilart.com/ (also avaiable on google play and apple app stores, can import palettes but insertin color values manually!)

piskel - https://www.piskelapp.com/ (supports palette importing and also animation, there is an offline version too avaiable to download)

Closing notes: older aseprite versions, up to 0.9.5 are legally downloadable too, here: https://www.aseprite.org/older-versions/
only win, mac and linux versions, no android one but source code for compiling is avaiable...as for such verison there is no rotating tool nor an import palette function, the only way to achieve the latter is open an image with the oxce palette and then paste/draw in it  :'(

bonus: if you're nostalgic try deluxe paint 2 online! (works only on desktop pc)

Edit: openxcom palettes can be found here

ah..ok dear rsswizard, currently i have not much spare time for experimentatioon, but there is indeed the need for a softwar capable of applying palettes (which in our case are here). Piskel is one of these, it's an online one and supports palette importing, see screenshot (in the lower left corner there is a palette menu, press on + and you'll see the menu in the pic), but seems it cannot apply to an image, so there is no chance but to do it manually it?

Maybe I am looking at the wrong program here but from what I see that thing is a video player. I can open an image file with it but I can't save it.

EDIT: I tried every program listed on this thread and I can't get any of them to work. Most of them won't allow me to paste in from other programs meaning that I can't just use them for resaving easily. I would have to save with a custom color for transparency and manually delete it or some such. And that's too much of a paint. And the only one that does what I need is MTPaint which is just the most painful piece of software I used since I last had the misfortune of dealing with the eclipse IDE.

So yea, unless there is an easy non painful way to do this I have to quit. It's sad, but it is what it is.

please read irfanview instructions, it's very easy or ask other users, don't give up! Quick start: https://www.irfanview.net/tutorials/bartosz_makuch1/irfan-view-quick-start-guide.htm. Even YouTube if full of tutorials :)

please avoid posting external URLs via clickable links (with a label)

in case of youtube videos, use a youtube tag
in case of generic external URLs, just post the plain text URL

ah sorry, gonna use that button..

Eh, why?

1) In the context of X-Piratez, a variant of a Bugeye as a meat shield/suicide bomber would make more sense;

2) Why do they need to be removed, especially if several factions will be robbed of their "generic" elite option? You could still have the "generic" Human Commando (Plus their 'peadia article states they are pretty much incompatible with both Humanist and Spartan beliefs) while giving Spartans their own variant, probably a Specialist/Captain of some sorts. Humanists already have their own Stormtroopers, not to mention the Supersoldiers.

just sayin' :) but if the one-for-rule-em-all way is preferred, ok ;)

Also, when I suggested a Fat Bandit enemy, I did not mean replacing Fat Guy and/or Zombie Fatman, I meant using their sprites as a base for a new enemy.

yep i meant i agree with that!

Would also be nice if each vcountry might give a specific weapon, maybe later on unlockable in the black market, for example an assegai for the jidden exanse, and so on; amd pheraphs some references to a thing called nwo, an historycal fact that gals might stumble upon? And also something called FIFA world cup, an ancient sport that was before the gravball...or even "hot fuzz" if you guys like (british) comedy..

Just found a pirate channel on youtube: the pirates port! I'd add some privateer elements, maybe an outfit fo some sort or lore info. And how about a tavor 12?

Uhm I think it could be a bit dangerous, in the sense it could possibly led to broken save files.
I should check the save file and see if it is something I can unlock from it, otherwise it is something
related to rulesets files, so apart from patching them before launching the game there isn't too much i can do...

Maybe update the trainer so it can handle both file types? But it should be an option, of course!
