- The first month into the Invasion (1999) I encounter Ethereals and Mutons, is this intended?
Haha, you had the same bad luck as me.

I played it a little 5 years ago - and I was not much impressed, to be honest.

Work In Progress / Bomb Bloke's X-Com Toolkit Downloads?
« on: June 20, 2017, 01:03:52 am »
Well, since I was really unlucky and foolish enough to start a mod for TFTD (because it really needs some more), I feel a need for old Bomb Bloke's X-Com Toolkit. Alas, for some reasons I can't download it as it should be done (from StrategyCore). I would like to ask if somebody could upload it somewhere else.

Best regards, Dr.Crowley.

Released Mods / Re: [TFTD] [Expansion] TWoTS Release (v.1.08)

Well... TWoTS and MegaMod is two visions of one thing - TFTD expansion. I begin creating my mod just because was not agreed with new_civilian's approach. If someone make merging of this two mods - it will be a third big mod.  :)
Lol, I begun my own TFTD mod just because both of these mods (TWoTS and new_civilian's) doesn't make TFTD any better for me.

Yeah, after all she's technically a Zombie.
And Zombies have stun resistance, yeah?  ;D

Yes, the hatchet was broken. Spear was fine, though.
Thanks for the report... It looks like people have finally gotten into the T'leth arc. :)
Woah, I started this arc about 2 months ago, but there was nothing wrong AFAIR. Alas, my current job leaves me very little spare time, so I'm stuck in a middle of Church of Dagon High Temple Mission - and (speaking about T'leth and stuff) in the very beginning of making my own TFTD rework ;D The last event exactly from T'leth arc that I can remember was Ritual Mass Murder - it felt like a mixture of monster hunt in a farm village and generic alien terror mission  8) But broken hatchet... can't remember how could it be broken. Spear was fine, yeah, but I sold it immediatly after this mission ;D

Speaking about drone - I haven't used it very much. I had one attached to my assault squad at some point but found that human scout is somewhat better. That's why this little piece of electronics ended up in a monster hunter squad - and "was a zombie" after being hit but Zombie Infector (I reported this bug some time ago) ;D

Yeah, more ship variants would be great. I'm thinking about more terror sites actually - ocean labs, offshore oil rigs, island military bases etc - because this is what I would like to see in TFTD.

The X-Com Files / Re: A bunch of questions from a newbie player

I'm not sure if that's the case as I haven't been able to research psionics yet, although I found Witches using these Flame Gloves artifacts.
You must research some aliens before you will get psyonics. Actually you won't need any psionic abilities until late game - I met my first psychic enemy not before early 1999 (yeah, that disastrous Ethereal Terror mission), not counting one UFO assault where one of my agent was almost mind-controlled.
Lastly, is it intentional that upon reaching Promotion 2, Black Ops' weaponry becomes the standard for all of your agents? Besides its high price, I don't see why would you keep using other guns when most of the Black Ops catalog are more often than not superior.
It was descussed before. Yes, I still miss that HKMP5 era  :'( BlackOps weapons, however, are the best you can get at this moment - almost 100% accurate and powerful guns. I wonder if UAC weapons will replace them eventually.

Work In Progress / Re: Caffeinated Xcom

Wow, these uniforms are making X-Com operatives look more like GDI soldiers from C&C or ever Imperial Guard from WH40K :D I also like cyberpunk-ish guys, despite they would fit much better for Apocalypse story-wise rather than for UFO.
Anyway, great work!

By the way, I recolored your Drowned One (Zombie) Ufopedia pictures to make them closer to TFTD battlescape sprite (just because green-skin underwater zombie looks more belivable for me). Dunno if this will be useful for you because Zombie autopsy picture is looking almost the same as Mutant autopsy, but whatever. Also I have absolutely no idea who made the pictures you are using so I don't even know about credits and stuff. I would like to use these recolors for my own TFTD mod, however, even if nobody needs researching Zombies in vanilla TFTD ;D

Despite being a sort of necromancer for this tread, I would like to thank new_civilian for his efforts. TFTD really needs more polishing and modding. Since I started my personal mod for TFTD (I haven't got too far from changing some weapon stats and rewriting some Ufopedia arcticles yet, so my mod doesn't deserve to be see even as version 0.1), I would like also to ask a permission to use your modification in my "project".

One question: i can not properly evaluate your variant, but beg you to keep meaning and terms unchanged. Like bionic, not biochemical, etc.
Thanks again.
Roger that. I'll check further and post the results later.

Alright, I finally got some time to take a look on the text.  I'm sorry but most Ufopedia articles are looking like the result of Google-translation from Russian. Some examples are listed below:
Spoiler:
STR_SPEAR_UFOPEDIA: "Spear, forged from unknown composite material. Light, durable and sharp."
Correct variant: "This spear is forged from unknown composite material. It's light, durable and sharp."

STR_TRIDENT_UFOPEDIA: "This melee weapon we retrieved from Naga temple. It has aquaplastics shaft and blades with superdense edges. Clearly a combination of ancient tradition and advanced alien technology."
Correct variant: "This is a melee weapon we retrieved from the Naga temple. Its shaft is made of Aqua Plastics, and its blades have superdense edges. This trident combines an ancient tradition and advanced alien technology."

STR_BIOFLARE_UFOPEDIA: "Bionic device, producing two times more light, than chemical flare. And do not blind human eyes."
Correct varian "This biochemical device produces twice as much light as its chemical counterpart and does not blind human eyes."
Reason: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bionics

I will continue this list if required.

I glanced through the translation file and the in-game text and found some typos. I'll post details later.
