Ported my latest campaign to the new version. In the research screen, some of the entries (Aye-phone, Hypno panels, The Solar Governor) have had their names default to their vanilla counterpart (Motion sensor, Alien Entertainment, The Martian Solution).

I'm quickly looking through Piratez_lang.rul right now, but I haven't yet found anything obvious.

EDIT: Disregard above. Changed language options from UK to US.

- Bandages hold just 2 uses now
Woah, that's actually quite a sizeable nerf early game. Guess this is the First Aid Kit's time to shine.

- Celatids' SENSE reduced to 20, accuracy by 20% and fire rate to 2/turn
Ha! I always hated celatids. What crazy stats did they have before?

Save file looks normal, missing one key gateway tech.

Spoiler:
Implosion bomb launcher. Shoot down and loot bombers/battleships.

Upon researching church beastmaster, I got research STR_REAPER not found crash.

Go to and open \Dioxine_XPiratez\user\mods\Piratez\Ruleset\Piratez.rul

Code: [Select]
research:
  - delete: STR_THE_MARTIAN_SOLUTION
  - delete: STR_CYDONIA_OR_BUST
...
  - delete: STR_REAPER
  - delete: STR_SECTOPOD
  - delete: STR_CYBERDISC

Removing the line '  - delete: STR_REAPER' gets around the problem. Not sure why that line was added in the newest version.

Does anyone ever use the shiv, bamboo spear, stone axe or bone club?

I can give my thumbs up for the stone axe. They came in very useful for the very early game, allowing freshly hired hands to land solid hits, even on underwater missions. I guess the same could be said for the bamboo spear in theory.

I'm not sure what niche the bone club fills, apart from being a lethal weapon to counter enemies with bad daze resistance: I'm not sure what enemies those are.

The shiv is a 1x1 item with low weight, which is about its only advantage. I think there's a new mission that forces the player to use them, but I don't know the specifics.

Building on top of what nrafield said, there's nothing you can research to stop crackdown missions from being launched, but you can build a fleet of interceptors capable of blowing battleships out the sky. Or invest in extra hands for base security, let the crackdown into your bases and then steal all their stuff. Or spam hideout shrouds and defensive buildings. Pick whichever options sounds fun for you and go from there, really.

Checked my old save, apparently you can buy Marsec bodyguards for your prisons. I can't remember what unlocks them for purchase, but I'll bet it involves capturing a live one in the field. In the meantime, keep a lookout for the appropriate shippings and hope that luck delivers you one soon.

Stargods do use voodoo magic a lot, but there's one other faction you can also target for that. I don't really want to spoil too much more; I find being overwhelmed with options and the unknown to be a lot of fun and you only have that for the first and maybe the second playthrough. I will say to check your bootypedia, I'll bet you've already unlocked some articles about where to look for some voodoo.

Does anyone know which transporters have sliding doors?
PACHYDERM, Deliverator and Triton are some of the transports that have sliding doors.

How long have I got til all of the governments abandon me?
Depends on luck and how effective the player is at identifying and disrupting shipping that the major factions launch to sway local governments. One midgame technology prevents local governments from withdrawing their support.

Edit: I still haven't found any power armour parts.
Power armour parts are actually very rare. There is a lategame technology that allows you to buy them from the blackmarket, but until then you'll have to loot them from enemies that wear it.
Spoiler:
Trader Guild military ships are what you want to look for.

Edit3: Also I've unlocked space missions but I only have space suits and I'm not satisfied with their armour. I assume power armour is space-worthy? Is there anything up there worth getting or should I ignore these missions?
A couple of power armour types are 0g capable, keep an eye on your bootypedia when you research them. And space pirates are better than normal pirates. Be a space pirate.

I found the elusive nomads, but I'm still clueless when it comes to finding shadow orbs.

Anyone got any hints for me where I should be looking?

Bombers can drop them. It's random chance whether they drop that weapon over something else though.

I think battleships can also drop them. Can't remember the loot that cruisers and destroyers drop.

Just did a bit of ruleset diving:

Spoiler:
You get them from battleships and bombers.

I'm at the point where every mission now has enemies with 180 aimbot hackers that not only see you from across the map at night, but instantly noscope headshot your camo'd girls behind cover, when shot in the back.

Sounds like you've met the mercenary faction or even the Star Gods! Thankfully most of the enemies in game are much less capable of such things.

Does splashing civvia ships definetly give negative points?

I don't think so. I think you stand to gain points as long as non lethal force is used on the civilians.

So looting civilian ships for engines and captives is the main way to make money?

Looting shipping, including civilian craft, is a good way to make money. You're a pirate.

I just got eurosyndicate and they sold me 8 laser rifles for 4M. This should deal with those armorued enemies effectively right? What armour should I be trying to get?

Those lasers will deal with a lot of armoured enemies very well. Others, not so much. I'm not going to tell you which weapons work well against which faction; that's for you to discover (It's probably already discovered in your bootypedia). I can't tell you what armour you should get because they can all be really effective with the right equipment. What I can tell you is that by year 1.5 I like to have everyone wearing guardian armour because I prefer the massive armour values and resistances it provides. My armour progression starts with warrior and camo paint, then progress to tac armour (with the helmet), then to defender, then to guardian.

Every time I have a new gameplay question I'll ask it here instead of making a new thread each time.

Where are nomads found? They were introduced in 0.99F and I don't think I've seen one ingame, 5 game years in. They're not the deep one nomads are they?

Where are shadow orbs found?

Heavy shotguns and tac vests I find are only suitable for some of the easier mission types and shippings. Heavy shotguns are powerful but but are terrible against most units that are armoured and tac vests users will have a bad day against anything that isn't using low quality weapons. Check your bootypedia for available weapons with high damage numbers/ have power bonuses that will result with high damage. You'll need them to defeat armoured enemies (The majority of enemy units in the game use some form of armour).

Do continue to shoot down civilian shipping, the small ship engines they have are worth $100k each. Continue to sell wine and ransom all captives you take for the money. Use the money to expand radar coverage to identify more shipping opportunities to loot. Build and use a crate of violence at some point.

Money gives you more options and you have to spend money to make money.
