Help / Re: OpenXcom on iOS
« on: March 15, 2019, 01:23:19 pm »
Woah! Finally! I shoud repair my iPhone to try it. I'll spread the notice. :D

Keep in mind that this is an old version of OpenXcom, from July 2017.

This is great, but can you please elaborate how did you get it into this app store?

Their site is very vague on the how to publish aspect.

Did you just build a single build and signed/whatever in Xcode? And then performed unspeakable rituals?

There must be some way to automate building builds and uploading them. There are things like fastlane to automate signing, but how does one upload to that store ( and where does one get certs/keys? )

And maybe you know of something similar for macos so that .dmgs don't scare people with "downloaded from who knows where, be very afraid?" popups?

Let's face it, black objects suck.

Idk what this shadowbat is but ketchup-spraying never hurts. Even squashed mosquitos look better with a bit of blood.

Hahaha. Okay, back to the drawing board.

What about this version ?

This is some serious moustache. Reminds me of Nails from JA DeadlyGames / JA2.

The floorob on the other hand looks like a rat decided to suffocate itself in a plastic bag, but forgot which end goes where.

OXCE Builds & Ports / Re: OXCE v5.3 for MacOS

It is definitely possible to upgrade OS to a later one, however I try to avoid that.

Wait a couple days more. Might be we'll make 10.9-ish macOS builds build.

Edit: can you please try out this experimental build: https://lxnt.wtf/oxem/builds//ExtendedTests/OpenXcom-..017f4e4-Darwin.dmg ?

Fond wish: AI that can shoot/hack its way out of crap spawns. Plasma packing mercs being rendered pointless, by waist high shrubbery, has stopped being hilarious after a few years.

I'd rather first have power armor walking through walls. But this too.

How to design all this though..

Well, no idea, I don't see APFS mentioned there.

I managed to mount this dmg on linux and it does contain an APFS filesystem:

1. 7zip knows how to split dmg files in parts (disk partititions actually)
2. there's apfs-fuse that can actually mount the apfs part

Code: [Select]
$ 7z l OXCE\ v5.3\ 2019-03-05.dmg

The Seventh Tip: be more specific.

Ah, yes, the famous computer bloat, makes sense.

So, if the breaks on your car stop working, you don't immediately repair them... because you're buying a new car in 2 years anyway, right?

cue in the ashtray joke

Work In Progress / Re: Improving World.DAT discussion

intermediate data? something specific? there isnt much in the way of incremental versions i'm afraid.. so far anyway. Most of whats done thus far is a massive upshot of polys and their placements. I didnt think that a version with the Americas done but Africa and EurAsia not,per se, would be terribly useful to anyone.

Please share how did you accomplish this.

Was it all done by hand-drawing polygons?

many thanks for the link.

it only emphasizes why great games are not ever done by big or even medium-sized studios.

editor: no, while i'm sure it's still out there somewhere, it's hopelessly outdated anyway. we have MapView

the rest is documented in ufopaedia.org and the source code.
