I generally equip all of my soldiers with an explosive and a rifle. I've yet to encounter a situation where I couldn't take something out. As long as its not 20 mercs haha.
Also during combat enemy soldiers have equipment as well. Even if you go in with 18 gals with holdout pistols. As long as your enemy has enough grenades you can take out their tanks. Unless you're fighting mercs of whom their weakest link is still tough.

Gameplay is enhanced by how underequipped units being unable to match powerful ones. It makes you prepare for the scenario in a more resourceful manner. And reminds you to use all the resources you have available.

Gauss weapons, and grenades are plentiful in the game so it shouldn't be a problem to begin with unless you intentionally decided to sell them all or not attack ships with lasers or gauss weapons. Or you're still on your first mission.

Lasers rifle+ and Gauss can penetrate merc and tank armor. Power armor is even easier to breech than Merc armor funny enough though it might just be the user being less durable in PA.

I remember a fight with some mercs where I had two Gauss rifles. At the end of the fight I had about 13. Though the use of stick grenades, looting, and Gauss fire I managed to down the mercs one by one to take their rifles. If anything this should be a lesson to keep at least one or two good weapons to breech armor around on the Bonaventura. And to equip all units with grenades.

That's a big aside sometimes :P
A kevlar vest would probably reduce piercing by more than 20% in most situations. A gunshot wound against a bullet proof vest vs one without should say it all.
The human armor description in the lore even says that human armor was designed to stop bullets. I'm not sure if something that's considerably heavy should have so few modifiers in regards to protection. Its also more flammable so its a give and take situation in regards to protection in game. IRL Kevlar is more resistant than Nylon, Plastic, and basic clothing in terms of fire protection.

Ghillie Suits would be flammable if the gals used leaves in the armor construction but Kevlar is the material used in game. I still think it'd be cool if the camo suits could be upgraded to human security armor. Tac suits are supposed to do that, but I think it'd be cool if kevlar could be used to make more armors like

Seriously? That sentence was an autocorrect mistake from my phone. It doesn't evendors make sense as is (adding teeth to the shot gun doesn't requirk the caveat of having to damage tanks since they both go in the same direction). I was saying its good to buff shotguns provided the mechanics work and it doesn't create other crazy situations like scratching tanks. You have low expectations of your players if you think this is what we request.

As for the hammer, I already suggested a way to make it destroy terrain and behave like a proper melee weapon too. I think that works well, even though it forces you to find other ways to clear elevators (yay tesla coils!).
Haha I once used a shotgun against a tank it was FUN! half of the town was on fire afterwards. There was a bit of Cotton candy you see...Then clowns...

XPZ Strategy/Tactics / Re: Piratez starting guide for new players

I'm still sorta new to the game, but I've been doing well so far.
I generally rely on firearms when I first start off. I sell all of my melee weapons then equip everyone with old carbines.
As for armor I generally don't research it first going for smugglers for their cattle prods.

I usually try to gun it for metal/kevlar armor. I just like the look of kevlar and the accuracy bonus.

During the game I usually make it a thing to capture nazi's for their stick grenades. Stick grenades become my go to weapon for most encounters. Supplemented by guass in case of power armor or mercanaries.

I generally like to start off around where Egypt is because of the large amount of desert. It would make it more easy to handle encounters with an open area without trees or buildings.

Apples are great resources for distilled rum, but by the time I would need it I think I'd be able to create more bases then.

My most reliable basic kit for my first play was an old carbine, stick grenade, and bandage. It doesn't work for basically only mercenaries.

This techtree is useful. Its kind of funny how I've got the max amount of bases full of pocket battle ships and nightmares but can't use my codes or make accurate plasma guns yet haha.

I never really liked the TU debuff of the Camo armor, and the lack of additional armor, aside from percent modifiers it gives the same protection as no armor. I kind of expected something like Human security armor since its made out of kevlar. It would be cool if camo armor could be turned into human security armor to get the same defense bonuses like with the addition of metal plates.

Shotguns are great disposable weapons for frontline rookies, but I prefer stick grenades since they're easy to aim, dropping due to panic doesn't seem to do much, and they have the potential to damage any enemy regardless of his armor, and doesn't weigh much.

The save files all hold the funding data, I forget the exact word but with notepad or notepad+ you can find a number that's the same as your current funds and edit it.

I liked to do this for the original X-Com cause a clandestine last line of defense against an alien menace only getting what some businesses get in funding just didn't make much sense to me.

Sometimes I would play the originals without ever using armor or advanced weapons just to show that the basic gear isn't that underpowered haha.
