OpenXcom Extended / Re: OXCE (OpenXcom Extended) main thread
« on: December 30, 2019, 03:28:13 pm »
It is unclear for me what is the difference between OXC and OXCE(+).

I could not find any documentation about it. Even wikipedia does not have an entry about OXCE.

Open Feedback / Version confusions
« on: December 30, 2019, 03:06:49 pm »
I am confused about the versions of openxcom.

I used the nightly from here
https://openxcom.org/git-builds/

But I also heard about OpenXcom extended in the forum. But it is not up to date anymore because they are fusioned.
https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,6586.0.html

But because of a problem with XcomFiles Mod somebody told me that I need "extended".
https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,7721.0.html

OXCE is mentioned nowhere outside of the forum. Not in the download section of openxcom.org not on Wikipedia (where all main mods are described very well but now OXCE).

And technical what is OXCE? Is it a mod or a fork of OXC?

Help / How to use/install sounds
« on: December 30, 2019, 02:40:48 pm »
I have downloaded some sound packages.

They are located here (Debian 10 GNU/Linux):

~/.local/share/openxcom/sounds/Cydonias Fall Soundtrack
~/.local/share/openxcom/sounds/UFO Original Remastered

But I openxcom do not use this sounds nor I can do something about soundtrack in the settings.

Is there a public git repository with Issue / Bug tracker?
It is hard to find out if my problems are still reported or not.

The X-Com Files / Starting problems: STR_HUMAN_SONIC_SHOTGUN
« on: December 30, 2019, 02:24:04 pm »
I installed OpenXCom nightly (25th Dec 2019) on Debian 10.

I tried to find the XComFiles Mod. There is no main-info-download-thread on the first-page of the xcomfiles-mod-sub-forum. so I used the "mod-protal" at https://openxcom.mod.io/ . Was this the rigth download area?

There are 3 folders in the zip archiv. I activted only the xcomfiles mod nothing else. And no other foreign mod. Openxcom restarts then and give me that error message
Weapon STR_HUMAN_SONIC_SHOTGUN has clip size 0 and no ammo defined. Please use 'clipSize: -1' for unlimited ammo, or allocate a compatibleAmmo item.

So what can I do?

Open Feedback / Re: howto select between different sounds

Can you explain or link that please?

You mean "new" with the unstable/nightly builds or even the current stable?

So there is no way to use different sound-sets with the same format?

Open Feedback / howto select between different sounds
« on: August 14, 2015, 02:52:44 pm »
Hi,
I "installed" two new sounds-sets to the data/sound-folder.

UFO: Cydonia’s Fall Soundtrack (as OGG-files)
and
X-COM OST Remastering (as FLAC 16bit files)

How can I select between this two and the original sound-set? In the Sound-menu I only can select between the sound-format. Because of this three sets have three different formats it isn't the problem. But I am not really sure (because of my ear *fg*) which one of the sets is openxcom using.

Offtopic / Installation on Ubuntu
« on: August 09, 2015, 06:34:02 am »
Sorry, for asking such a basic question, but I think I missunderstand something. ;)

I have install "openxcom" from the PPA suggested on the Download page.
When starting this, it ask for XCOM-files. Of course, I understand that.

I have a original XCOM CD-Rom for Windows. Don't know if this is a "vanilla" Version. I don't know what "vanilla" means.

The CD is for Windows (more specific: old DOS). So I can I "install" that CD on an Ubuntu? How can I bring the original XCOM from the CD together with the "openxcom" on my ubuntu?
