Resources / Re: custom geoscape background

While we are at this topic: What's speaking against having one Geoscape? I mean, the TFTD-Geoscape has the problem, that the land masses really look boring. On the other side, it's pretty much the same with the water parts in x-com 1. I'd love to see a mod, that combines the best of the two worlds. The nice land masses of UFO and the sea looks of TFTD. Would that be possible?

TFTDs Geoscape is great and functional. The red background image is imho perfect: it intensifies the brooding and gloomy atmosphere of TFTD.

I have no problem with the yellow land masses of TFTD; in fact: I love the abstract look of it.

What really bothers me are the projected sea textures: they don`t move with the globe. Zoom in and rotate the view and you will see what I mean. It looks very odd

Robin, you're a kickass artist, so i'd like to ask you one  thing: would you consider creating expanded geoscape space backgrounds for UFO:EU and TFTD so we can use it when running the game on higher resolutions instead mirroring the same one over and over like OXC currently does? This is perhaps the last major graphics gap missing in the game, and one that would definitely improve the geoscape aesthetics when playing on hi-res, which a lot of players do.

Yes, a seamless background texture would be great; at the moment TFTDs geoscape background looks very strange at higher resolutions...

Open Feedback / Re: TFTDs Music - Different Versions?

Yes, they sound pretty similar! But imho the DOS version captures the sound of 70s, 80s horror movie soundtracks: very dark bass synth

BTW: The "It follows" soundtrack from Disasterpeace has the same "vibe":

Open Feedback / TFTDs Music - Different Versions?
« on: September 09, 2015, 03:32:21 pm »
I have heard that there are some different versions of TFTDs great soundtrack. I know at least two of them: 1. the DOS-Version 2. the PSX-Version

The PSX-Version has live orchestra music and I don`t like it, because the "8-bit"-DOS-Version sounds really "eerie" and the live orchestra version completely lost this charm.

My questions:

1. How many different versions are there? Is there a difference between the DOS and Windows version? Or the floppy and CD version?
2. Is it possible to use Dosbox's Gravis Ultrasound emulation in OpenXcom:

Programming / Re: Bigobs for TFTD terror units

Pictures of "weapons" used by alien terror units. They can only be seen if you mind control the alien.

Ah, wow, they look absolutely great!

May I ask some more questions:

1. Are they fanmade or have they been hidden in TFTDs game code? (If they are fanmade: Whats the best way for making TFTD "ingame" art? Are there any tutorials?)
2. How do I use the icons? Is placing them in ../xcom2/Resources/Weapons/ enough?

Thanks

Work In Progress / Ingame Font?
« on: August 28, 2015, 04:22:00 pm »
Hi,

does anybody know what font is used in X-Com TFTD (Ingame)? I would like to make some TFTD artworks in Illustrator.

Thanks!

2) Is it possible for the Aquanauts to keep their helmets on during the Surface/Terror missions?

I would like that too! Would be a nice little "mod": Helmets always on yes/no.
