Open Feedback / 0.5 in 2012?
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:09:27 am »
Hello,

0.4 is released. To keep our programmers motivated, lets write how many of us want 0.5 ;)

0.5 plans:
Code: [Select]
Geoscape AI (missions, UFO spawning, bases, scoring, funding, interceptions, etc.)
    Graphs
    Victory/Defeat

Battlescape:

    More alien units
Alien base and X-Com base missions
AI Phase 2 (grenades, blaster launcher, taking cover)

So basically, 0.5 should be first playable (from beggining to end) version. It will be important step in OpenXcom development.

Hello,

Everyone here probably knows UFO Extender by Seb76. TFTD Extender is basically same thing but for TFTD.

It's being made by Tycho from Strategycore forum.

Here's page for it(will all features described):

Offtopic / Map of Openxcom fans pool
« on: July 25, 2012, 11:11:05 pm »
Forum map:
https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php?action=googlemap

Amunak's:
https://tools.amunak.net/openxcom-map/

First solution is integrated with forum so it has advantages (same nicks) and disadvantage (guests can't add their locations).

Second one looks better (full screen), pins look better.

What do you guys think? What should we do? I think we should decide to use one solution. If you prefer Amunak's map, we could add link to it on main site.

Offtopic / X-Force: Fight For Destiny
« on: July 16, 2012, 11:43:50 am »
It's old x-com remake project:
https://www.xforce-online.de/news.php

Probably cause it's in german (english dataset is available) and written in delphi (it's open source) it hasn't gained much popularity.

I have tried it couple times - long time ago. Launched, played couple of minutes and closed.

AFAIK their engine supports datasets with scripting, modding, etc:

Anyone tried it?

Offtopic / OpenXcom on Slashdot? ;)
« on: July 10, 2012, 08:05:41 am »
OpenMW is project similar to OpenXcom - they're making open source engine for Morrowind game. There site recently died from slashdot effect "Normally we get 10,000 page views a month, and because of slashdot we had 2,500 in one day."

OpenXcom stats for June: ~ 3500 visitors (2700 unique) and 6500 page views  (4700 unique)

I wonder what would happen if somebody would post OpenXcom on Slashdot ;)

Anyone knows ADOM roguelike? If so, there is campaign for resurrecting development.

It's here:
https://www.indiegogo.com/resurrect-adom-development

It's first day of campaign, already almost 9K from 48K - pretty good for roguelike game without gfx ;)

« on: June 27, 2012, 09:55:09 am »
Hello,

You have max 2 votes, use them wisely ;)

UFO2000 isn't officially dead, but it's development is almost non existent, so i've also added it here.

If you would like to see other projects in this poll, suggest them.

« on: April 04, 2012, 11:42:26 am »
Hello,

What do you think about recent kickstarted campaigns?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/66710809/double-fine-adventure
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2

And now, most recent:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1451923705/make-leisure-suit-larry-come-again

Personally i think it's great that ppl want to help with resurection of old games. I hope we will see more such campaings soon ;)

Also, i'm waiting for xenonauts kickstarter ( or indiegogo.com cause they aren't from US :( ) to see how many ppl would like to have x-com remake different than official ;)

Offtopic / Help Wanted: MM 6/7/8 Remake Project
« on: January 18, 2012, 08:48:26 am »
(copied from https://www.celestialheavens.com/)
Quote
The MM 6/7/8 project is currently searching for people with experience in IDA.

The project, a "decompilation, reconstruction, upgrading and tuning of the Might and Magic 6/7/8 engine", has yielded some impressive work thus far; all that's needed is some dedicated and talented fans working on improving it still further.

https://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=328190&highlight=#328190

So basically that project is kinda like openxcom but for m&m rpg games. But they are doing it in different way - they dissasembled original code and they're rewritting it part by part.
