Suggestions / Stats for non xcom humans?

Not sure if it'll be a factor, but what if there were civilian police, or military?  I suppose the aliens are having a hard time as it is against xcom, but hey, what about a terror mission where theres one or two cops?

If there were unarmed attacks...  it might take on a life of its own...

Watching metal canyons xenonauts vid.  Thing crossed my mind, if you delay an attack until day time, surely that'll allow aliens to deply mines/proximity grenades around or somehow prepare for an attack?  Guess the mechanism would be too complex but fighting a defensive battle with time to prepare should make it easier for them rather than for xcom.

Still, a bit too difficult to implement, empowering aliens with mines and all....

Saw someones new terrain mod.  Great stuff.  Was thinking whether there could be variations on what we have like types of maps and terrain.  I suppose a 'mine' or underground environment wouldn't be much different from an alien base except with some dead ends and maybe some machinery...

Surely there are other types of maps?

Ok, guess its awkward if a ufo crashed into a mine, but hey, maybe it would make a good terror site?

Any other environments?  National parks with bears? (Reapers?), lakes?  impassable streams with bridges?

Really hate it that my psi strength 100 guy gets overlooked for the next promotion whereas some psi wimp gets to be commander.  I seem to have full control of my soldiers actions, base management and all, but no choice over who gets promoted.

Oh, and maybe a system of increasing salaries for higher ranks would be nice.....

Well, on the gamefaqs xcom 2012 forum I keep suggesting that those mech soldiers might be revived dead soldiers.  Perhaps its an option?  Just thinking out loud, maybe sectopod carcasses might be a way to re... incarnate dead soldiers?  You know, keep the body on ice, stick it in the machine, plug it in and voila!  Robocop 2!

Suggestions / Tank mounts?

Was reading that thread on gauss weapons and it crossed my mind, wouldn't it be nice to have tank structures where you could mount a heavy laser?  Seems like a lot of work with little reward, I rarely use anything beyond a plasma hover tank, but I wonder whether such a feature could be implemented easily?

Just a thought.

Suggestions / Improving on aliens?

Can't remember if I made a similar topic before but I do feel that with all these improvements for humans maybe someone should be fighting for the alien side.  I don't mean a 'god' difficulty where every last alien has a blaster launcher, but maybe there are subtle ways to make things harder.

Maybe hordes of chryssalids?

Offtopic / How many soldiers do you prefer to have? Bases?

I'm still in my first playthrough, got 8 bases, 250 soldiers, scientists and all.  I'm sort of culling all soldiers with psi strength less than 40 and will be working my way through.  I guess if I lose a country I'll probably finish the mission, start again... 

Do you prefer smaller forces?  I remember my first playthrough I had one base in the Arctic...  and maybe 50 soldiers....

I was supporting Julian Gollops kickstarter Chaos reborn when I got an email from his update about this game.  Looks like Diablo in space for multiplayer.  Sounds interesting but not sure if they'll be successful, think its already 50% over and they got only about 22k of the 50k they need.

Still, it was recommended by Julian and looks interesting......

Havent' had time to get into it yet...  just managed a few missions in the past few months.  Its a unique style of gameplay.  I saw some video by Julian, he seemed to indicate he was unhappy with it.  Could it be because of bugs or something else?

Just thinking about this.  Seems to work for some games that I wouldn't go near, but is it something we can look towards?  Maybe one day, they'll play xcom and brain wash a nation somewhere?

Whats the name of that floating bag?  I was playing on one of the latest builds and one of my rookies got hit several times with the acid spit.  I remember this was dangerous.  Can we check on that?  I'm happy about the new picture for reaper attacks and all.  Also the silacoids didn't seem to do much damage, my rookies got hit several times and didn't appear to take any damage.

You know, apart from the firestorm and interceptors, every transport needs crew, and failure to put crew on them like when they're all dead means you lose the transport too. 

I know, this is a drastic departure from the original, but maybe you can crew em' with xcom soldiers...

Just a detail.  Pity, it would be nice to have an air combat stat....

What if there was a 'Diablo' version of xcom?  I know some of the other ideas over the yeasr came out badly but somehow I think it can work under the right circumstances.

We see apocalypse take this into a real time strategy.  I'm a fan of mechcommander myself.  Maybe some aspects can be automated, like running for cover, maybe a game like dawn of war 2 with different soldiers and personality types?
