Yeah, reaction fire in the turn-based sense doesn't really make sense for these sorts of combat.

Edit: I still think a Steambirds style combat would be a nice option  :D

I always though that was one of the best implementation of aerial combat for a simple yet involving playtime.
It is a minigame but you can control your ships give them different turning rations also you can add the human factor and if the pilots are intro... (wait this is part of the game i dreamed off)

Any way giving ships different types of firing styles will be nice also, some can only fire forward (mainly human ships) while other can have a larger range.

i saw that last video, and man, you need to get some avalanche launchers when you go up against the battleships and stay in cautious attack get hit once retreat and let the another interceptor.

And Michal he was just a killing machine!!!! I want to be like him when i grow up :D

I think that is the understatement of the year :)

You mean they are incredibly lucky if they finish the mission!!!

My character (once is added to the roster) wil try to stay away from the rest of the squad at all cost!! :D

in this case where it means a hit to a craft or ship, i think "Impacto" meaning the craft was hit.

for example if you say "direct hit" you would say "impacto directo"

wow... wow, just wow, i just heard the soundtrack of the Cydonia's Fall website (I always search with volume off)

I like the sound track, it is nice, dark, eerie, scary, it lures you... it has a lot of the XCOM feel, it gave me the chills!!! AWESOME :)

Nevermind, after looking at that page source i found a link to the music is from a youtube video :( still it is an awesome soundtrack in case anyone wants to see the video

I was about to say exactly that, XCOM always had the option of attacking an UFO with multiple crafts, the problem is that is a a little obscure feature. in order to achieve that feature you needed to click on the minimize icon on the left of the air combat screen, thsi will allow for the persecution to proceed allowing other xcom craft to catch up and then do a gang bang on the UFO :)

This was speciall useful against battleships.

you can use, "Atacar" or "Golpear" since it could be use to as a more general term.

Hit that wall = Golpea esa pared
Hit that person ~ Ataca esa person, but Ataca is more closely related to Attack.

Of course Atacar can also be use in other similar context.

With regards to joining the games, i always thought it would be a simple matter,

Start the game as EU then once you are close to getting your plasma rifles (provide a trigger) the alien ships instead of "escaping to space" they submerge, the user will be like WTF?!!

Then all hell breaks loose aliens can evade by simply heading for the ocean new missions will be available and now you can set up mission under sea keep the same number of bases, truly i never set up more than 5 bases anyway.
the research tree opens up areas of research and we get our hands into some nice harpoon weapons, which now combine with laser and plasmas can prove for the rest of the tech tree. weapons armor after all in the EU timeline i think diving suits already exist :) we just need to buy then :) and probably by then we have our first armor from alien alloys combine that with the diving suit and you have your first all underwater armor, this will require a lot of work from the user, as he/she struggles to find a balance... ahhh just the thought of struggling to keep up with the aliens makes me want to play TFTD again :D
Aliens can now do more attack ships and then games are fully merged :)

And of course keep the 2 parts missions those were the best

I understand that programming all that might not be simple, but who cares!!! that is not our problem, that is the programmers problems :D

You know i never thought someone would think the same way i do :)

Point 1 were something i have always wanted since... well the first time i played the game (maybe the second), so that aliens would be able to literally hunt xcom units, although i had always thought to add a sentinel or scout type unit so that it will relay information to the main race and adjust the battle tactics accordingly, you know a non-offensive unit that is agile, fast or even flies and it will be the "eyes" of the aliens.  But yeah i like that idea.

Point 2 i always thought that was a given.
Point 3 i also thought that was included the longer you take to answer a mission the lower your score will be. aka more civilians dead.
Point 4 also a feature i always thought was good, kill yourself rather than be capture by the enemy, and of course the "captain goes down with the sip" specially if the ship has a self-destruct system :) *too bad we lost the lieutenant when that alien destroyed the ship*

One of these day i will post my ranting... one of these day...
