Hello everyone,

A new LP has just started, the presmises of this LP is based on the logic that all weapons apart from Explosives are bad, wait wait.... I already tried that, it did not go so well, so now we are changing the tune, basically playing vanilla with little sprinkles of Commendation Mod (I hope Shoes is watching)

Rules of Engament
  • Only Explosives are allowed, all other types of ammo are for wi... Errr.... No we are playing with everything except sucky weapons
  • All autonomoues units are evil, we need to prevent Skynet from activating, thus we will not use any of those
  • We do not play mind games. Therefore no psi attacks
  • First to see first to shoot, unless it put the live of the shooter in grave danger
  • I think that is all for now if i remember something i will add it
  • Nice and slow, we play at a very slow pace moving slowly to prevent accidental death

Open Feedback / playing Xenonauts

Hey guys,
Always a supporter of anything xcom"y" I had the key for Xeno for ever and decided to get to playing it, and I have to say I am not satisfied, sure the graphics are nice and all, but game play is not there, I am playing in Insane mode it seems the AI is aware of all units locations and the aliens do not move much if any, they take a location and stay cover the whole time.
Also it makes no sense that all alien tech is sold,  and they explain that is because of our different anatomy, however in game play you can pick up the items and it. Anyone else else has played it lately?

Work In Progress / [CONVERSION] Higher resolution

Hello everyone,

now i know that everyone is busy working on their own mod, so what i am attempting is a bit to ambitious for a single non-programmer :)

THe basic idea of the mod that i want to do is a "higher resolution" version of the game and by the i mean bring to game to 960x600 base res

This is where i have been putting a lot of my ideas and artwork that i want to use in the mod

With help from warboy, supsuper and Volutar i was able to get the battle scep control panel working to about 95% there is one more function not available but it should be easy to implement for a programmer :)
Currently i am working on modifying the inventory screen, basically trying to combine the stats screen with the inventory screen. right now it si still very early and the GUI is not displaying object properly as well as the active areas are not available.
The sprites for the battle scape are original plus the combination of Chiko's sprites and maybe one or 2 that i did. they will be improved and changed in size to fit the new sprite size.
I have also added a couple of mods from warboy and Moriaty and some artwork from Luke.
Lastly I would like the actual battlescape to be displayed in a closer view of the map

Truly i have not done anythign on it yet just a mock up of how i would like it to be viewed since i do not think the old bar style GUI will work too well.

Base Management
UFOPEDIA this one will take a little formating effort i do not want to rework all the screens, i simply want them to fit more objects, allowing more space for fluff text and such.
Research Tree The research tree has been completely added to the ruleset except for cleaning up dependencies and drawing out exact branches everything is added and fully functional.
GUI in here and thanks to Supsuper i want to combine the inventory screen with the stat screen as well and also add Shoes mod for showing awards. based on the awards we talk to him about.
Lastly the GUI in the base management is what will need the most work just to allow a nicer "higher" definition sprites for all the facilities.

As such like i said i have been workign on it and a few things have been implemented and is thanks to a bunch of programmers and artist but is getting to a point that is really hard for me to do the coding :( not because i do not have time but just because i do not have the skills.

That website i listed is were most of my ideas are present. I have forked Supsuper branch this is the branch i work off and this is my master

by the way due to the huge difference in reluset this version is no longer compatible with Supsuper master.

For anyone that is interested in copyright stuff legal, and all that mumbo jumbo, a brand spanking new article attempting to clear everything up was just published. So people can read and be probably bored :) specifically do not forget to read the "green paper"

Resources / New Weapons sprites / Technology Branch

Hello guys,

I am trying to brake away from the original artwork, i know i am not an artist so i created a a couple new sprites for a weapons, i don't know what i will call it or what it will be :)  But just wanted to share with the community.

it is not pallette corrected yet for OXC, i will do that later but i was thinking to make this part of my Gauss technology

Also wnated to ask for creative text fluff for the Gauss Branch and the weapons and maybe dependencies for the research tree.

Translations / Spanish/Español (Latin America)

Hello everyone,

I am creating this thread in order to separate the Spanish (Spain) y Spanish (Latin America) I know this is a bit redundant but i think it is better in order to clarify the translation efforts.

A lot of strings have changed i have attempted to parse to all of it, but i am not sure i have, if anyone plays the Spanish version and finds any errors please post them here and i will update it.

I am still doing small changes in order to somewhat refine and compact some of the text.


Creé este tema para separar las traducciones Spanish (Spain) and Spanish (Latin America), sé que es redundante pero creo que sera mejor para clarificar los esfuerzos de traducción.

He cambiado mucho y e tratado de revisar todo, pero no estoy seguro de haberlo terminado, si alguien juega, usa esta traducción y encuentra errores por favor notenlos aquí y yo los corregiré.
Sigo haciendo pequeños cambios para refinar y compactar la traducción donde sea necesario.



Suggestions / Update (improve) UFOPEDIA entries

Hello everyone,

As this team is doing great coding i thought that some of the fluff language is a bit antiquated, and sometimes a little off. So I was thinking how about we start improving that.

I don't mean rewrite the whole thing, but just either expand and/or improve the current, I know as an XCOM purist i am a little afraid of the backlash, but you know, this doesn't change the game it simply creates a better immersion feeling. With that i thought the first.

So before we even attempt this, I wanted to know if the community in general would accept it.

I am not an artist but i am starting to learn 3DS :) so since i told SupSuper that i will find someone to do a new logo, and the persons still haven't come up with anything i like i decided to give it a shot.

This is a first try at creating an alien skull I am not done but creative input is welcomed :)

Okay, so I didn't want to be left out thus I started a Play, and uploaded the first part to YouTube.

1 the live play
2 happened for a few days finished a couple of research started, some other completed some manufacturing, waiting for the next mission. :)
A based has been detected by our scouts!!!! everyone stop lollygagging clean and lube those weapons. At the end of the month we assault the base
4 couple of little skirmishes in preparation for the big mission
5 lost base defense mission,should have been then end, but still in the game :)
6 don't want to leave us alone!!!
7 much other than a terror mission and my first "commentary" other than that business as usual. Oh and Bulltza and Papamaanbeer are now in the game.
Chapter 8 was way too long, needed to be split in several parts :S
so here there are, it was a long and slow mission, but the job got done
9 it was bound to happen our fist team casualty :)
10 being accused of cheating I decided not to save ever in the Battlescape, just to prove a point. :) that i am that awesome!!!!!!!
It all started as a simple recovery mission, and then we were knee deep in aliens. "Uncommon valor was a common virtue"
12 Base defense and a small mission
13 Base Assualt mission nothing spectacular in particular, our rank are just getting stronger and stronger by the day
14NO LINKSorry guys, i screwed the pooch, lets just say some how Volutar went UA on us, the next chapter will bring more action.
15 this chapter is an exercise on patience and actually it is a really bad month for me :S decided to procrastinate and payed the price for it :S
16 we are back in business an action packed chapter and another casualty, guess who was the victim!!!!
New action, new players, new deaths action packed :), don't miss the Thrilling conclusion
18 is what actually happened, many people died, i was trying to go a little fast, but is funny how things end :)
Chapter 19 is a death filled chapter, also our first encounter with Ethereals, not apt for the faint of heart.
Well more casualties, the first part is rather slow, actually the first 17 minutes are boring, so i guess you could skip them all together :)
21 chapter was a little long, but it was worth the time, and the toughest Ethereal i have seen ever!!! It wouldn't die, i think someone gave it extra armor or something!!!
22 to get back into playing mode :)

Suggestions / Are Medals/Awards on the table for future release?

I have done a really quick search about medals or awards and i have not seen anything.

Is an award system aa possible feature that could be implemented, not now but maybe later? i had posted a similar idea in another forum forgot which, you know some to say this unit this something amazing, or whatnot.

here is the idea

would it be better if instead of making them separate you simply add a marker like they you in the military

5 Kills = first award = Ribbon
10 Kills = second award = bronze star on ribbon
20 kills = 3rd award = 2nd bronze start on ribbon
it coudl be made that every 20 kills you get a bronze start up to 3 in a ribbon once that is reach the next award will be a silver start so
at 80 Kills = silver start
then like at 250 kills = a gold start and you could get like 3 gold stars

it was posted in the Xenonauts forums it is a huge thread, anyway just an idea if no one else has brought it up :)

i know i have been out of contact for a long time, but as far i am remember TTS had a lot of improved art work created as open source, does anyone know what happened to all that art, wouldn't it feasible to contact the creators and ask them to use it here, As far as i remember it was open source so as long s this project gives proper credit will be OK.
