Those kind of exist IRL, mind you. While the real ones don't spit gouts of acid, you actualy do need to use power tools to open one up. Its actualy one of the more believable aliens the original xcom came up with, if you think about it, since while we don't really have big headed sexless midgets going around shooting people with plasma weaponry IRL, we do have both living rocks and critters that spit nasty things, including acid.

I'd love to have a squad of slave soldiers decked out in the tactical armor from jin-roh.

Seriously though, if Dioxine is ever in need of inspiration for ludicrous guns that were/are actualy real, Forgotten Weapons is the best source for that stuff. You'll find stuff from pinfire revolvers with barrels with 20 chambers, literal hand cannons that are pretty much exactly like the assault cannons, african poacher musket guns made out of iron pipes, 4 gauge punt guns, weirdly futuristic looking south african grenade launchers, weird naval guns that look like gatling grenade launchers, WWI autocannons, flintlock machine guns, flechette rifles from the 60s etc.

You get the militia outfit for peasants, that gives a better xp gain than even the sailor outfit for gals + some minor armor and stat boosts.

But now that we're on the topic of  mostly dumb suggestions, here goes mine: add this 14 barrel flintlock to our already ridiculous roster of craftable weapons, just because it looks exactly like something the gals would want.

And yes, its a real, working gun. Good luck loading all 14 barrels though.

Using the spoiler function is regular forum etiquette since forever, so people with slower internet speeds don't have trouble reading a particular thread that happens to be full of images. So yea, if you absolutely must post pictures, put them in a spoiler.

I honestly don't remember that bit from the in-game english description of the gold codex, so yea, might be an issue with the translation.

Gambling gets considerably better as you become able to cash in the better tickets (zortrium, etc), but even the copper and iron ones can give you weapons and ammo that you wouldn't normally get so easily in the early game, which can be a great help with research in the early game and gives you another avenue through which you can get better weapons early on. Getting tommy guns early on is a godsend when you only have shitty low damage rifles, muskets and bows.

You used to be able to finish this mission by killing/KOing all enemies in the map, but I'm not entirely sure thats possible anymore. Mansions are usualy loaded with mostly irrelevant stuff though, like coins and gold bars, which you can easily get elsewhere, so unless you're strapped for cash, search for the interesting research related stuff like gems, books and magical stuff, then get out. Bring one or several gals with stuff that can break down walls, too. You lose most of your time navigating the mansion.

You'll only have to worry about freshness if you plan to use certain items repeately (like the admiral de corazon outfit weapons) have missions take over 30 turns or use the same gals in every single mission. Try to rotate your gals/peasants between missions. Slave soldiers have loads of max freshness though, so you can prob use them over and over and never run into problems unless you're using items that cost freshness.

I get the impression Dioxine is adding stuff to further differentiate gals from Slave Soldiers so your choice is more meaningful other than just a self imposed challenge using cheaper soldiers with worst stats.

Out of the menace class ships, the red codex one is the only one that stands out combat wise, all others are better used as troop transports, with the best dedicated transport being the bonaventura, followed closely by the fortuna, being the only one that can go out into space. The El Fuego is far from useless in combat though, but its very maintenance intensive due to missile slots and helerium for both fuel and ammo for the flame cannon, so until you have the dosh to finance it, its best to relegate it to troop transport duty.

The hawk is a pretty decent interceptor if you use a skilled pilot and mount the flame cannon on it, though, people just never use it for that because the hawk is so goddamn expensive and because of the risk of losing the flame canon. It can chase down and destroy pretty much any fast non hunter-killer ships, though. You can kind of offset part of all that expensive maintenance with the turtle, which is battery powered (AFAIK), can go underwater, and is a pretty damn good transport.

IMHO you should avoid pogroms until you have, at the very least, warrior armor, 6 gals with decent stats, guns powerful enough to kill a regular enemy in a single turn, a decent melee weapon on every gal, about two grenades that do different damage types on each gal and medikits on everyone. Move your gals in pairs so one can heal the other if needed.

With this, you can do bandits, humanists and maybe spartans, but your gals are gonna get hurt if not outright killed. If you're against humanists and spartans, be careful with guys carrying RPGs.

AFAIK, not immune, but certainly very resistant due to their energy shield, meaning you won't deal any real damage until you take their shields down. Try using flak cannons, elephant repeating shotguns and other such things to take the shields down first.

After the shields go down, they're not all that tough. A star god novice has only basic armor values and some energy related resistances. Not exactly wet tissue paper, just slightly more resistant then your average uber, its their equipment and stat lines that makes them scary. The average merc has way more armor and resistances.

I tend to always put my second base around an area with frequent landings and then use it as a peasant/slave soldier training base, keeping one convoy and one faster transport around. With some decent management, you can get an entire convoy of 20 something soldiers to most missions and even to landing sites. With the convoy's hatches, peeking out and taking shots at anything is very easy.

I'm likely misremembering, but I think I once played an openxcom mod in which you could press a key while clicking to fire to make the shot prioritize the terrain rather than units. Again, I might just be misremembering things.
