Suggestions / Re: Yearly Release Schedule?
« on: June 07, 2018, 08:06:00 pm »
It would be nice. I was caught off guard by it at first until I saw someone mention the nightlies had mountains of changes and some mods require it over the last 1.0 built. Outside of making it clearer that really people should just use the nightlies, it would be nice to release a foundation build again.

Addition/Edit: Was the original post not talking about the Milestone download on the front page of OpenXcom? That is still at just 1.0 .

Released Mods / Re: [COMPILATION] Final Mod Pack (FMP)

Where does it write to then?

So it created a folder/section of openxcom under /users/documents/openxcom and this was the path I knew about. It had the mod folder included and looked exactly like the correct one. After saving games and not finding them there though I was able to search the name of the save and find the proper place. So the same exact folder setup instead of being there is in programfiles/openxcom/user/mods (not100% on this path since I am not on that computer but the gist was it was in the main game folder under programfiles instead of documents). I just coppied the modpack over from the first to second mod folder and it loaded up in working order. Ive never played classic xcom so I am glad to finally get this setup running.

That indeed looks OK.

Let's try a different approach... can you just start a new game, make a save and find that save on your hard disk? Once we know where the game is writing to, we will know also where it is reading from.

I did that and found out where it was writing to. Different spot but now it works finally thanks!

Hello again! So I got a screenshot of both the mod folder with the path location, and then a screenshot in-game confirming the mod not appearing (this also has the version # at the top, 5-10). From everything I have read it should just be adding it to that folder like I have done.

Help / Re: Mods Not Appearing In-Game

It will take some time, I am bar jumping tonight and out of town camping tomorrow, but I will get all of that information and pack it into my next post on this thread. Thank you for the help! People are awesome on this community.

Help / Mods Not Appearing In-Game
« on: June 01, 2018, 07:32:20 pm »
Hello,

I had installed openxcom and it works fine. I then installed the mod file into the mod / user folder. From there though I get nothing, it never appears in-game. I watched the instructional video and it followed step by step to this issue. The unzipped file is in the mod folder, but never gets activated / pulled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I am curious  (and apologies if this is the wrong place to ask but I can't find where else then) but what if when moving the mod pack over to the user/documents openxcom mod folder, you never have FMP appear under the mods tab in options? The modpack is there, and I watched that video instructional but it just never loads up or detects that it is there. Thank you in advance your all amazing for your work with this project. <3

Troubleshooting / Nightly Install Issues
« on: May 31, 2018, 03:45:24 am »
Hello!

So I downloaded the nightly modpack files. I pulled all the data files into the UFO folder in the mod. I tried launching and I got to the micro-prose intro before it crashes to an error window. "OpenXcom has crashed: Segmentation fault. This usually indicates something missing in a mod. Extra info has been saved to log, report to devs." I can't find the log file anywhere, but basically I am getting segmentation faults. I had to manually install the files as I kept getting errors not being able to find the game (on a windows steam install though).

Any help is appreciated, I have not used Openxcom or even played the classic xcoms 1-3. They seem so fun and I really hope I can get it working.

You know what I found those installers and it worked. So all good.
