That is the exact thing that always happens to me that by the time i unlock something, something just way superior can be researched right away and its all due to the RNG reward roullette of tech and cross dependencies and dependancy on end-tier laboratory which has its own set of specific requirements. Until the whole end game and tech access is reworked, RNG completely controls the flow of the campaign. Solarious is aware of that..

And it does hurt the game which otherwise has quite smooth tech and gear progression.

Welders not dropping are why I stopped my first run.

Does this have an designed for difficulty level? Like in Xpiratez where playing on super human actually makes it easier?

So sometime around april I get these jeeps/tanks on the geoscape that move at 125 speed.  I assumed they weren't meant to be destroyed at this point since I never can seem to get their bootypedia page in any games I've played, but am I just missing out on a lot of missions by ignoring these things?

They are bandits/raiders. You get car parts and some low level captives you can research some stuff with. Their "crash" sites have 1-2 armored cars on them so bring anti armor weapons.

This might be a bug of I'm missing a trigger. I'm trying to build hunter killer/ STR_INTERCEPTOR. I have contacts: ship junkyard and the dep for it. I should be able to see old fighter hull/ STR_FIGHTER_WRECKAGE (bootypedia says i have the tech here as well) in the buy menu. It is not there. Going into the rule file and removing dependencies on the component does not make it appear.

What am I missing?

The stair tile on the Fortuna in the red box cannot be stepped on. None of my peasants can walk on that tile.

The grey codex gives a gnome now. You can use it as a reusable research engine and recruit then or later.

I've never seen a synth  :'( :'( :'(

Hey I just started a new game (like a week or so ago) and I just got my first 0-G mission on this play through. All my peasants are going unconscious in 3 turns. What changed? Do space suits not have oxygen any more??? (yes they are in standard peasant/human space suits)

I found the alien loadout by rank file. Is it possible that I skipped over the drop or should you keep seeing them over time? I'm pre-1999 and have taken down a battleship and captured a sectoid leader and commander.

I only use them as a low mass in case of surprise robot weapon.

If there were better options for increasing research throughput in the beginning then you might run into missions earlier where they would be needed.

When do alien alloy welders show up? Is there a specific mission? I have almost everything researched that doesn't require improved labs.

I was trying to look for this answer but got spoiled on something so I stopped:

What are the differences generally between the male and female tech branch options?

So my last game that I started was on J8 or something. I usually have a couple 8 man teams peasants, catgirl/gremlins/loknards, and slave soldiers. Mainly for flavor. I modded in doomguy armor as being acceptable in stealth missions and melee punching through walls. I just play rip'n'tear on mansion missions. It adds so much to the game. But my serious business force was usually just power-armor Ubers. (ironically I had an all power armor force yet hadn't even gotten only satellite raid missions)

So starting a new game yesterday I get to the male soldiers or just Ubers option.

What am I locking my self out of by picking either? I really want to have a transport ship of suicide soldiers all dressed up as doom guys, but I don't know what picking either of these does so eh? Part of this was text in the bootypedia entry that made it sound like I wouldn't get a dojo/training room if I went with male soldiers. I saw that the random assigned tech values to complete the girl tech was 27 and male soldier tech was 3 so I'm guessing slave soldiers is the intended path.

Some of the newer farm tiles have 0 walking/running TU cost.  It was one of the death and taxes map sets. it happened at the start of a run and I kept playing so no save, sorry.
