It is not important, but you should be familiar with the mechanics, because this mod adds a ton of those on top.
So it is generally recommended to play vanilla first, though not neccessarily finish it.

Avoid ships that have a circle around them. And while the equipment is lost, your hands are not, but they need a couple days to get home. I think.

The corridors lend themselves to melee, which is quite effective against most mercs. The hover tanks are nightmare fuel early on though.

Your cannon can usually destroy an armored car with a couple of hits.
If you happen to find an RPG it'll work great with both common ammo types. The gothic raygun might work.

Just had the doors on the above map as well. The left outer door doesn't properly open (you can still walk through it after "opening", but the graphics don't update and you can't look through it). The right outer one doesn't work at all, you can just walk through there.
The door to the small room in the middle (the one between the outer doors) opens to just reveal a solid wall.


Edit: The south-west wall of this building is more like a curtain.

So far I combined the Blood Axe with the Furiosa Armor, no Bone Shield yet.
That gal can take out an entire merc ship in a turn or two and only needs help with the flying enemies.

It's been a while, but it is best to look up the zombie techs in the tech viewer, you need some of the stuff from the panic to complete the zombie research line.

Do you have the space to process 2 billion dolaros worth of contraband? Space is the main limiter here.
