Programming / Re: Roofs of ships cause bubbles to dissappear in OpenTFTD

oh ok, i see what you mean, yeah, that's just an unfortunate artifact of the drawing order. i _might_ be able to do something about it, but i can't make any guarantees.

OK, sounds good.

I asked about whether this occurs in vanilla in case it should be reported as a bug. Since you know about it and it doesn't affect game play at all would there be any point in reporting it in the bug tracker?

Programming / Roofs of ships cause bubbles to dissappear in OpenTFTD

I don't know if this is a bug or vanilla behaviour of TFTD.

When you have a unit standing outside next to a ship, then selecting a view level which makes the roof appear will block the animation of bubbles if they normally would animate on top of the roof graphic. You would obviously want to block the appearance of bubbles for units inside the ship when the roof is showing, but presumably not block the bubbles for units standing outside the ship. I've only tested this with 1-level ships (e.g., Triton or small Alien craft).

Occurs in the latest gitbuild 2015_08_24_0859. Anyone know if this something in Vanilla TFTD or is it specific to OpenTFTD?

Offtopic / What slang do you use to refer to the aliens?
« on: February 27, 2015, 02:51:14 am »
When I started playing Xcom back in the 90s, I realised I was always referring to the aliens as "bugs"; as in "Nailed 6 bugs so far." or "Where did that f'ing bug go?".

After playing Open Xcom, I realised I'm still doing it. This got me thinking about whether other players (or their respective soldiers) might have a particular slang word or words they use to refer to the alien hordes attacking Earth.

So how about it? What slang do you use to refer to the aliens? For me, everything is a "bug" (although I have caught myself referring to the Mutons as "Mutties" every so often).

Open Feedback / Coordinates of Alien Bases stored somewhere?
« on: February 08, 2015, 08:05:07 pm »
Are the coordinates of Alien Bases stored in the game files? I know I have an Alien Base somewhere on the globe (id number revealed in the save game file) but i can't find it.

I would like to try some experimentation/modding on it so it would be very convenient if I could reveal its location directly rather than flying around in a Skyranger for hours on end.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
