Work In Progress / Few Resources

Well, one is the old inventory only image X-COM Alliance inspired armor - now with helmets in hand :) Yeah, I know...is useless without battlescape sprites, but...



The second one is Ufopaedia image of Alloy Cannon I made for myself (for alloy ammunition mod).

Work In Progress / [MODDERS RESOURCE] XA Armor

I am not sure if this is any good for anyone, but here are inventory images for new armor - inspired/created from one of X-COM Alliances armors. And because it is only inventory image, I am posting it as resource for more skilled modders.

Male/female version with helmet and wihtout.

Translations / Minor font problem (Slovak language)

As I was reviewing the translation I discovered a minor problem with the big font (the small is ok). More precisely with two characters -  the characters are swapped.

This is how it looks now...

And this is how it should be...

I made the change in the FontBig.png. But now, the filesize is smaller than it was. So... i am not completly sure i did it right. :)

Work In Progress / [Research] More Dependent Research

I created this mod some time ago for myself, but maybe someone find it useful too. The idea behind this mod is to delay some of the research (mostly weapons) with more dependencies.

For example – you can’t build Alien Containment in the beginning, first you need an alien autopsy, after alien autopsy you can research Xeno-biology and then build Alien Containment.

But as I wrote, its mostly weapons – motivation was simple - with many weapon mods out there, this may force player to use normal weapon longer.

I add also some other mod modifications – but as I discovered, most of the mods are fairly good balanced in terms of research. So, there are two mods hidden behind #. One is cooperation between Sectopod HWP and my Enforcer mod (you researched Advanced Robotics Technology and THEN you can research Sectopod Construction). The other one I added recently - Alien Armoury Expanded. I added similar dependencies for new weapons in that mod.

And one more thing. I want to ask someone here in the forums, if you know the author or someone from the abandoned UFO: Two Sides project, because I used the Research background artwork as basis for my Xeno-biology ufopedia entry illustration. So before I upload this on the mod site, I want to ask for premission to use part o fit. Because otherwise I will need change that. :)

Work In Progress / [CRAFT/BETA] Raven Interceptor

This is my another attempt on „moding-lite“ OpenXcom. The idea was simple – what can I get from the new XCOM game and put it into the old universe? How cool will be Thin Man in the UFO:Enemy Unknown? Yeah,  but there is one problem and it is my no-skill in graphic. So, creating full unit sprites for Thin Man is above me. Something else maybe? Raven Interceptor? Hmm, yeah I can try this :)



In the beginning your scientists can research "Improved Interceptor" project and then you can manufacture your slightly better interceptor.

Work In Progress / [HWP/BETA] X-COM Enforcer

This is something I made mostly for myself, but maybe it will be interesting for others too. When I saw Svanh's Drone mod, I got an idea. In the X-COM „lore“, there is a robotic warrior type thing. Yeah, we all know how bad as X-COM game Enforcer was, but on the other hand – it is the time of First Alien War and the oportunity to add new unit type to old UFO. Because as most of you, I played UFO:EU since 1994 many, many times and... well, it is allways the same (good game) now.

So i learned something about moding OpenXcom from wiki and get inspiration from Svanh's Drone mod. And this is what I created.

It is not perfect, because I am not an graphic artist (or pixelartist? :) ). But i tried my best. So Enforcer has a custom inventory image (in fact I created 3 versions, but choose the one that is less pixelated and close to slightly modified flying suit armor sprites – see screenshots), custom unit spirte, ufopedia entry for Enforcer itself and Advanced Robotics Technology).



It has some issues

–   first, as you probably figured out now, i am not native english speaker, so the ufopedia entry texts will need some corrections
–   second, when I give something into the hand (or inventory) of the Enforcer, the item (weapon) has tendency to disappear after the mission.
