I tried v7.11.
1. Delete options.cfg
2. Start OpenXComEx.exe
3. Go to options
4. Go to fullscreen
5. Set native resolution
6. Change 'disable' (which was selected) to 'raw'
7. #CRASH#

Why's there a 15 second delay in there? After you change to Disabled, do you perhaps wait 15 seconds (where it counts down if you want to keep the settings), and then it crashes?

After I press 'Ok', the complete interface freezes (screen and mouse are 'stuck'). After 10 (or maybe 15?) seconds, the game crashes.
If this can't be fixed, at least people can find this thread to know how to use the text editing workaround to get the game working.

I'm happily playing now... the game is great!

3
I deleted the options.cfg file and used the halving method to reintroduce the settings.

Finally, I found that this single setting crashes the game when I change from 'raw' to 'disabled'.

WORKS

Log file: C:/Users/Bouwhuis/Documents/OpenXcom/openxcom.log
If this error was unexpected, please report it on the OpenXcom forum (OXCE board).
The following can help us solve the problem:
1. a saved game from just before the crash (helps 98%)
2. a detailed description how to reproduce the crash (helps 80%)
3. a log file (helps 10%)
4. a screenshot of this error message (helps 5%)

So, as long as you use text editing to change the setting to useOpenGL: false, the game doesn't crash (and works in 'disabled' mode).

4
Is 'vanilla' settings the 'disabled' option? If so, then I can't run that because it crashes.

5
I went from the original ('*raw) to disabled, and then it crashes.
When I just leave it on *raw, the game works. I don't know what the 'display filter' does. I was experimenting to try and discover what it was.

What should I set this to to get the best quality?

6
Sorry, I updated the original comment before I saw your response.
I used the 'disabled' display filter. I don't know what 'display filter' does exactly.

7
I just now installed OpenXComEx v2024-07-26. I went to the options, and after pressing 'Ok' the game crashed:

Released Mods / Re: [TFTD] [Expansion] TWoTS+ Release (v.2.46)

For those who are interested, this guy posted his walkthrough of TWOTS on Ironman level of difficulty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eYxy2HuwdI

Next time I will tell some jokes while playing in ironman mode ;D :D ;)

Ooooooooooh no! It's not in English. That's a real shame as I wanted to watch a fun (boring?) playthrough.

Troubleshooting / Re: Go to predicted UFO location
« on: October 05, 2019, 10:57:20 pm »
Maybe a stupid/obvious idea, but why don't the airplanes simply constantly adjust their heading so as to fly directly to the UFO's current position? That wouldn't be cheating, and the player wouldn't have to micromanage the multiple airborne vehicles to make sure they don't stand still without actually pursuing their targeted UFO.

Troubleshooting / Can't see an enemy that my soldier can see
« on: August 18, 2019, 08:51:56 pm »
Often one of my soldiers stops because (s)he sees an enemy. The problem is that often I cannot see the enemy. I then have to slowly move my cursor over every single dark tile until I can find the 'invisible' enemy (the cursor blinks red+yellow).
Is there a setting I can set so that I don't have to do this tedious work? Or is there a mod that can do that?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I tried Windows 'game bar', but it said it couldn't record the desktop (didn't recognize X-Com as a game?)
I tried Fraps, which could record. There was sound, but the screen was black (also couldn't record X-Com screen).

On a landed battleship mission I had it once. I think the icon was pink(?)
My soldier was on an elevator, and when I pressed the '1' icon it shortly jumped one level above the soldier and then jumped back down again. My soldier saw either a sectoid or one of those flying saucers (2x2 tiles) that explode when you kill them.

If you can't reproduce it, then never mind. I hate to take time from you. I already reported 4 bugs in the last week or so (all but this one got fixed!)

Sure, can you tell me how? Is there a program I can use to record video from X-Com?

Also, I downloaded the newest OpenXComExtended which claimed to be 2019-08-11, but when I start the game it says 2019-08-03. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong (tried downloading it 3 times with overwriting files).
