How typical. You don't have answer to my arguments, so you are calling reinforcements - threats and paranoid conspiracy theories.

However, Vansi, I don't start moral crusades over people mass-murdering civilians with explosives, or doing the same with Lokk'Naar soldiers because they cannot be bothered to devise a better strategy than mass suicide bombings.

I don't care how people are playing your mod, it is their choice. But they are playing within the boundries set by you.

Btw. I wasn't aware of any sfastika shapes in the grass... but it is easy to take any spirals for sfastikas. Just look at our galaxy's view on a small picture, with the right state of mind...

Here we are again. You are again suggesting that I see something that is not there. Screenshot will be provided. And then you are suggesting that I see swastika in the grass, because of what? What is my state of mind ? Am I nazi ? That is what do you want to say? If that had been correct, I, as a nazi would be pleased. There wouldn't be criticism from me. But there is swastika ship in the mod, there is swastika grass in the mod, and I didn't put it there. You did.

So, what is your state of mind, Dioxine? Because I am beggining to see very disturbing picture...

Vansi . . . did you miss that in J6 and earlier . . . giant rats were killing cats for our sick amusement?

Please, read again my post #6073.

This mod takes place in a fictitious and alternate universe, where absolutely horrible events occur. Many of these tragedies can be witnessed in game by the player (or even be carried out by the player).

Yes, I agree. Most common type of tragedy is as following: ship shot down and surviving crew is killed or enslaved, in best case scenario only kidnaped and ransomed. All done by the player. Is that not enough? Do we really need slaughter of the cats added on the top of the things?

I don't think any of us here enjoy tormenting cats.

Well, I have doubts. Very serious doubts.

This is why they are in the game; they're supposed to be saved.

I disagree. Lets be honest, how many times did you saved civilians? In most missions all civilians are dead in about 5 turns. In Sunday Town mission even faster, as every dead civilian becomes zombie, 2-3 turns and they are all dead. And if civilian survives, it is a fluke, simply because RNG didn't spawned enemy near by.

Cats were added to be killed. It is their purpose, same like with civilians. And fact that by the fluke you can occasionally save cat or two doesn't change that. Fact, that cats have some usefull abilities doesn't change that. In the grand scale of campaign cats as a combat or support units doesn't matter at all.

I will go a step further. Violence, erotica and madness is crucial to all art; including video games. If someone thinks this is for the sake of anybody's "amusement", I suggest getting back to degenerate porn and not bothering men of culture.

In 17th or maybe 18th century men of culture were killing cats on stage by strangling them or burning them alive. It was "entertaiment" of the epoch and people were actually buying tickets to see how this sick fucks are tormenting and killing defenseless animals.

But times have changed. In the last 100, 150 years no artist has rise to fame by tormenting animals or by portraying it, as this is universally viewed as sick barbarity. And I don't recall any game developer which said "Hey, our game has a new, cool feature, you can now watch cats being killed for no reason. Awesome!!!".

Apparently Dioxine, who considers himself man of art and culture, knows all about this. Nevertheless he said "hold my fucking beer".

(Actually I never tried digging in alien bases, neither in vanilla nor piratez... seems comletely pointless but I don't judge...)
Oh, come on. Digging in vanilla? How? With blaster launcher? But in Piratez? Completely different story. And there are reasons, but since you don't have time to play you don't see them.

Thankfully I can find it, in my giving heart, to forgive you.

I don't give a single damn about your patronizing forgivness so you can shove it in your anus.

Now, it appears you somehow come to the conclusion that the cats only exist to be killed in horrible fashion

I have done Sunday Town a dozen times, but in J2. There was no cats. Never.  And I am playing Piratez since april. I have never seen a single cat, in any mission and I have done hundreds of missions. And now in J7 we have cats. So yes, that is exactly what I think.

and that they were implemented because I enjoy watching life suffer a cruel death.

LOL.  Do you really think that something was implemented because of you?

and outright murder and wholesale slavery isn't a red line?

There is difference beetwen essential features and additions that serve no purpose, except for fulfilling some sick and sadistic fantasies. Murder is present in almost every game, but how many games have cats killed just for fun of it's creators?

If the death of cats at the hands of zombies crosses your ethical limits, then the truth is going to be really uncomfortable.

If the death of defenseless cats at the hands of zombies that serves absolutly no purpose doesn't cross your ethical limits, then truth is, you need help.

This mod must have crossed your moral boundaries years ago.

I don't play that long and this is first time I feel something is unacceptable. And I had my doubts when I saw ship in the shape of swastika. And I still have my doubts when I see swastika pattern on the grass (in minimap view). But Dioxine said this mod is about boobs and fighting nazi assholes. I guess he forgot to mention that he will force us to watch cats being slaughtered for no reason at all.

So I just had unpleasantness of playing Sunday Town mission for the first time in J7. As it turns out, friendly cats have been added to this mission, so they can be killed by zombies... Was that really necessary? Is it improving gameplay in any way? Your mod is incomplete without it?

What the hell is wrong with you, Dioxine?! What will be the next? Cultists of Apocalypse raping virgins? Live sacrifices made of children? Dude, there are some fucking red lines, that you should not cross.

you're also seeing things that simply aren't there.

Hence it is not possible that "these tiles were diggable before but are indestructible now".

What now? Am I hallucinating? Maybe I am a liar?  ::)
Maybe you should play your own mod from time to time, to see what is possible and what is not.

Unless weapon's power or damage attributes were modded directly.

Are you implying, that I modded Piratez to give myself ability to dig tunnels in enemy base? :o
If yes, that is very flattering, but I don't have any idea where to start.

Here is screenshot and save file from 99J2. It shows how much you can dig in enemy base in 4 turns with 7 pickaxes and barely 2 swiftsuits.

I would like to see following techs added:
- Recruit: Peasant
- Recruit: Slave Soldier
- Recruit: Bugeye
So their maximums no longer will be mystery. :)

Up to Dioxine to answer if intended or not... but in my opinion this is definitely a bug.
You should not be able to crack open UFOs with a pickaxe, nor should you be able to dig tunnels through alien or xcom base "thick wall" with it.

Well, I don't know... There are weird things in the mod. In the beggining of my current campaign (maybe second or third month) I had very serious problem with 3 enemy armored cars on terror mission. Black powder bombs were ineffective, I used all my molotovs to destroy 2 cars. Third armored car was destroyed by... barbarian sword and pickaxe.
And there is latest addition to the mod - cannibals (canny gals). It was suppose to be an easy mission, but to avoid overheating in tropics, I used gals only in custom power armor. And turns out, that this primitive savages, armed only with bows, blow pipes and javelins can wound and even kill a gal in power armor. Through frontal plate.

On the other hand digging tunnels through enemy base was a lot of fun. It was taking lots of time, but I was able to raid with low level armors, like tactical or heavy armor.

No idea about 1. (Which base?)

It is Academy base, raid to kidnap Provost. I was attempting to link together green exit zones by digging tunnels in upper level. And I am 100% sure it was possible in 99J2 and earlier versions. Savefile attached. In southern zone there are two gals in swiftsuits with pickaxes. It is possible to destroy metal wall, but not brown dirt block.

About the base walls, in vanilla Xcom the only thing that could put a dent in those was blaster bombs so they are about as strong as the UFO outer walls even though they look like dirt.

This is not vanilla, you can breach outer hull of cruiser (battleship from vanilla) by using pickaxes.

1. I can't dig in enemy base. Brown dirt blocks are indestructible. Tested by 2 gals in swiftsuits with pickaxes for about 10 turns. About 110-120 attempts, not a single success.

2. Testudo armor has two different appearances.

Suggestions / Re: Please add a warning, that there is no more space on HDD
« on: September 26, 2018, 05:45:27 am »
on the other hand operations should not fail silently.

Exactly. When you are out of space on HDD, game still allows you to make multiple savegames, providing you with false sense of security that your progress has been saved. You save your game, end your gaming session, quit Xcom and there is not even a smallest hint that there is something wrong, not until you start game again.

And warning is enough to alt+tab, delete/move some old savefiles, and return to game - no progress is lost.

Neglecting managing your hard disk space isn't an OXC issue, as there are often OS-level warnings when disk space is running low.

I disagree. If game creates corrupted savefiles that can erase days of progress with many missions due to lack of free space, then it is issue. Serious one. And it is easy to fix. And not every sigle OS provide warnings.

Just out of morbid curiosity: how many saves do you have?
Let's assume they're all battlescape saves (which makes no sense, but let's make it easier). Let's assume each one is 1 MB (which is probably too big, but again, let's be easy on the case).
12 GB is still well over ten thousand saved games.
...
What the hell were you doing? :)

I am now in about 30th month of campaing. Geo saves are 4,5 mega, battle saves are 5-6 mega. But I checked size of the saves only in beginning of my first campaign, they were then like 0,1 or 0,2 mega, so I assumed that all saves are small/compressed and I had over 10 gigs of room. But they are not compressed. And when I was upgrading game several times, I was simply copying all saves from old version to new version, as I incorrectly thought that saves/freespace wouldn't be a problem. :)
And I save everyday after midnight and after missions.

Suggestions / Please add a warning, that there is no more space on HDD
« on: September 25, 2018, 01:29:33 am »
Today I experienced plethora of strange errors with Open Xcom, and I was writing lenghty post about them, when I had EUREKA moment and I checked HDD - no more free space. So I purged 12 Gigs of old Piratez saves  ;) and I have request - please add a warning that there is not enough space on HDD to make savefile, or at least show on load/save screen, how much there is free space.

In case someone is interested, here are symptoms, what happens when you don't have space on HDD:

1. Game starts in windowed mode, most (but not all) of your settings from options menu is restored to default.
2. List of items for autoselling after mission is cleared.
3. Game no longer takes screenshots.
4. Save files are incomplete and/or corrupted. They don't load at all, showing strange and cryptic error messages, or they load, but, for example from 8 your bases only 2 are still standing.

Modders can't add new features, you'll need to ask devs for that.

Well, Dioxine's response suggested, that he is entirely capable of adding such a feature.

@Vansi,
Thank you for supporting. Why don`t you join us on discord-chat?
Just type "discord" into the search section und you will find us all.

You will find out, that in the chat many things get better communicated. Give it a try!

Thank you for invitation, but I have to respectfully decline. First, my spoken english is rather bad. Second, Discord is a spyware that is recording every voice & text chat, and it is sucking every bit of information from your computer, all this in order to sell it to
highest bidder. My contribution will be limited to the forum only.

More info about Discord  https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/discord.html

And it is shame, that on Piratez forum there is no "General Disscusion" thread.
