Work In Progress / Re: spawnUnit: Always hostile?
« on: August 11, 2017, 11:19:48 pm »
I've checked my desktop, it only has one copy of the OpenXCOM source (that I can find), and it doesn't contain my UAV/Deploy Unit code I'm afraid.

I'm currently just moving back to Windows (I got fed up of my graphics drivers breaking on Linux, plus there's games only available to Windows that I would like to start playing again), but once my dev setup is back, I might look into recreating my deploy code... but we'll see

Just so you know, this was the original thread for my UAV mod
https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,1304.msg11893.html#msg11893

I'm not sure if there was actually a pull request made, or if it was imported. I can have a look when I get home if I still have the code locally on my desktop, but my GitHub repo was deleted, and I'm not sure I can see anything relevant in SupSuper's repo.

Still can't wait for a better OXC experience on my Android tablet. The controls are something I can't get used to. If we get more updates, it'll be a dream and I'll take it with me everywhere, never closing the game out. Make a move every couple minutes while doing stuff. during breaks and in between hangouts/movies. That's taking it to the next level.

Now I'd like to know what the best portable PC experience is, currently. I can probably ask in an appropriate sub. would love to know future plans as well to start saving money. Like using a Steam controller hmm... What about that Nvidea Shield handheld?

You want to check out an OpenPandora if you can find a second hand one (they are no longer in production)... or wait for the Dragonbox Pyra (it's successor, which is currently in prototyping stage). They aren't cheap, because it's a small venture. There's an OXC port to the Pandora, and it plays great

Just because you're playing it on a computer doesn't mean it has to be fast.

Think about how chess on a computer has expanded the game so you can literally play somebody across the world. Does that mean chess should be realtime?

That depends on your point of view. It's not like you have to research alien containment, which implies it's "available" at the start. Arguably, most people tend to build it on the first day anyway, and it's not like you shoot down 20 UFOs before it's complete.

It also means you could fully flesh your base at the very start, but you'd obviously start with a lot less money. It would be nice to also have just built two hangers for example, and save money on not having a second interceptor.

Finally, it wouldn't "force" you to buy alien containment... The whole custom base tool was about allowing the player to configure their base  to their liking, rather than having to try and build around what the game decided for you.

I'll never change any of it, so it's all moot really :)

Whoo, my code still exists? TBH, looking back, I wish I'd allowed the player to build any amount of anything, and subtracted a cost, rather than just let them position the buildings. Oh well, the road not taken

Well, I've finally released a game... I've had this for a while, was trying to find some more suitable graphics, but end up just decided to drop it out as is.

It's a simple DiveKick clone (a two button, one hit ko fighting game, if you've never heard of it).

https://github.com/pmprog/SuperJumpKickTurbo/releases/tag/v1.0

Runs on Win and Linux, and has netplay

I'd love to play some people. Unfortunately, real life prevents me from a lot of that.

Maybe I need to ditch OpenApoc, and build this  ;)

If you want to use game capture mode in OBS, you need to use OpenGL. In OpenXcom, go to Options > Video > Display Filter ... and change it from "Disabled" to "raw*".
Or you could just use Window capture, and you wouldn't need to change any settings ;)

Open Feedback / Re: Any way to put the tank in the back?

[Edited] New question: Is it possible for all the excess items loaded in the Skyranger to be put in the back? I sometimes adopt tactics using explosives near the exit and all the items get blown up  :'(

You know, I thought in the original, Skyranger items were accessible for every spot in the Skyranger. That's a good chance I'm actually wrong though

Not at all. I'd be interested to see how this goes. Would like to contribute, but I've already got too much on, so I'll just provide some support.

(That said, if you do a tutorial on making maps with Tiled, I might try and squeeze something in)

Hey thanks guys, the other look very interesting even if there not opensource :P

Found this on the Pokemon Sage site, thought it was rude but honest..."This project has been built up and created by the anonymous community of 4chan's /vp/ board. It is created by /vp/ and for /vp/, which is one reason why newcomers aren't always appreciated if they originate outside of 4chan"

Looks like they are using ripped sprites, not exactly what the Tuxemon project plans on doing.  Can anyone here draw Pokemon, could use a few Original designs for Tuxemon to get the ball rolling.

You could maybe check with some authors in that challenge (you won't want mine though, mine's not very pokemon-y)

Some pretty nice ones:
