I'm updating my save to 0.8.7 from 0.8.6 and I just wanted to double check what I need to do.
I added
  missions: ~
  missions: ~
and I believe if I'm not mistaken that is all I need to do.

I'm curious about this, too. There's zero instruction about save updating.

Your laptop killed over because of Pizzagate? A conspiracy about pedophilia and worse things being perpetrated by high ranking D.C. politicians?

Ahahahahaha no, bad phrasing I guess. Althrough I would't past them. Actually it was the imagehost of my LP. One day it simply went down, never to return. Either the devs abandoned it or They took it down because it hosted a lot of Pizzagate content and evidence. I have no idea, just heard a lot of rumours.

Now that I think about it, I'm surprised we don't have Flashbangs in The X-COM Files. They're such a nifty tool for riot control.
Xenonauts used Flashbangs as anti-reaction grenade. I think that in X-COM they would work better as lessening accuracy stats and general unit vision for a round or so, but they don't stack. Or take a cue from Xenonauts and have them reduce the reaction stats for a round, but again, no stacking penalties (you can't blind someone already blinded lol).

I think flashbangs should't work on aliens, because of their different (alien) photoreceptors. Rather, an Flashbangs-lvl2 should be made for them after enough autopsies. They also should't work on robots (superior machine cameras laugh at puny meatbags) and maybe zombies (because zombies use their sense of smell more).

Hey, glad to see new version!

No old save-game issues?

The X-Com Files / North American X-15/Rocketplanes
« on: March 22, 2018, 05:24:59 am »
I think I already suggested this once before. The North American X-15 Rocketplane is a relatively old, yet very good little piece of technology. It has managed to reach speeds well in the range of Mach 6.72, reaching the speed of speed of 4,520 miles per hour (7,274 km/h; 2,021 m/s), tts speed record, in fact, has not been surpassed by any aircraft since. It also has flow as high as 80 miles, where its high enough to be considered space. In fact, the pilots who did that actually earned Astronaut wings!

Specs from wikipedia:

Other configurations include the Reaction Motors XLR11 equipped X-15, and the long version.

General characteristics

Crew: one
Length: 50 ft 9 in (15.45 m)
Wingspan: 22 ft 4 in (6.8 m)
Height: 13 ft 6 in (4.12 m)
Wing area: 200 ft2 (18.6 m2)
Empty weight: 14,600 lb (6,620 kg)
Loaded weight: 34,000 lb (15,420 kg)
Max. takeoff weight: 34,000 lb (15,420 kg)
Powerplant: 1 × Reaction Motors XLR99-RM-2 liquid propellant rocket engine, 70,400 lbf at 30 km (313 kN)

Maximum speed: 4,520 mph (7,274 km/h)
Range: 280 mi (450 km)
Service ceiling: 67 mi (108 km, 354,330 ft)
Rate of climb: 60,000 ft/min (18,288 m/min)
Wing loading: 170 lb/ft2 (829 kg/m2)
Thrust/weight: 2.07

Now imagine something like it, but built with late 90s technology.

Something like a Rocketplane seems like a nice "hack" or alternative before/during the Interceptor phase of the game. The Rocketplane would probably be a speed-focused alternative to the Interceptor. A rocketplane like the X-15 would probably be slower and have less range once deployed with weaponry, but still outspeed the Interceptor. The Interceptor has better range, and may be more resistant.

So, my balance suggestions:
- Faster than Interceptor (say, 2x-3x times faster)
- One weapon slot only?
- Less resistance?
- Lower range.

I'm thinking it would be kind of an predecessor to that cool Scramjet X-COM can use later (I don't remember its name).

Star Wars and XCOM.  Won't mix.  Star Wars is always about many planets throughout the galaxy.  As cool it would be to take on Vader with some lightsabers, the story arc wouldn't work.

Psionic Rape Hell.

A third of your soldiers panic at once

The other third start shooting their friends

The remaining third find out that bringing plasma rifles and laser rifles was the wrong call, and their shots just get bounced back.

Note to self: Research Cortisol Armor next time.

How about Clone Wars? You have to take a planet (and a few moons and other nearby planets too), you have your army of clones, other non-clone dudes, and a few Jedi, that are precious and have imba powers, but you get few. You fight Droids, weird enemy aliens and renegade Darkseiders serving Count Dooku.

The final boss is some epic Droid/Darksider fight. And then Order 66 hits after the final boss, mind-controlling all your Clones irreversibly, so you have to win by surviving against your remaining heavily-armed Fett clone soldiers that your nurtured through the entire game.

Anyone getting such false positives? Got it from Panda Antivirus

Stopped playing this since I changed comps after my old LP got killed, possibly by freaking Pizzagate.

Revving my downloaders and getting my image host.

Rev up the car and get me my guns, I'm going back in.

No such a thing as enough X-COM masochism

Hi could you provide link to you LP - I cannot find it anywhere :D

Sure, not right now - the site I used as a image host ( has gone offline. My LP has become dust, pure letters alongside non-existent images. I gotta repost all of it first.

Pizza/Pedogate took down my LP, believe it or not. Or so I heard.

Spooky as fuck

Reminds me of playing Fallout Tactics online and getting my power armored dudes killed by dogs

A cool idea would be a dog tackle attack. Some big dogs can take even large humans down effortlessely. Maybe take AP off instead of stun.
