Me thinks you are doing this backwards.
1.   You want to create a weapon that does no damage? Or
2.  Do you want to introduce a new damage type "Sonic"?

Interesting.

Sounds like you would need the following:
1.  Non animated
2.  Animated, sequential
3.  Animated, random

+1 here.  When OpenTFTD is lifting off the ground, more undersea life that does just that and then some would be awesome.

In this case, would a base be able to be created on, say, Jamaica or Bermuda, even though their are no landmass defined there in the set?

Solarus, Your idea still reminds me of the UFO tv show.  But much, much better!

I believe there is a terrain by Hobbes (I think?) where the Skyranger is replaced by a APC.  I wonder if that can get resurrected?  That would fit perfect with your idea here.  Even if simply to dig up some of the work and you apply your considerably skillz toward it.

UPDATE:  Found it!

Jack...whatever insight you've gleaned, would be helpful to share.  You found a correlation with Space Marine artwork?

Programming / Re: OpenXcom 1.1

You know...you don't need a blessing from above to have a stable point.

Start a thread and simply come to an agreement on which nightly is a good endpoint.  Once divined, consider that version OpenXcom 1.1.  Thats the version everyone considers plateau if they so choose.  Put a link of it on the mod site.  Mention it in the download of your mod.  Etc.

IMO, asking the Vactican to give you a new Pope is going to be a small exercise of frustration.

Suggestions / StatStrings
« on: December 19, 2014, 12:21:17 am »
StatStrings should just modify the name of a purchased soldier.  Thats it.  Should not superimpose over a name on just certain screens.  I use statstrings during recruiting, but after that...he's Jacob StrongArms, Jake Tesla, or Rookie.  His name is mine after that.

Thoughts?

Released Mods / Re: [STAT TRACKING] Soldier Diaries 1.0
« on: December 02, 2014, 09:07:11 am »
Curious...Can one take a inprogress game using nightlies and merge in the Soldier Diaries mod.  I love the mod, can't wait to play it..but I have an ongoing game I would hate to end.

Any assistance would be helpful.

A nice companion to this would be adding civilians and (bold suggestion) types of civilians.  If we are going to add map diversity, demographic diversity would also be interesting.  Each terrain, whatever, could include an ethnicity or civilian type.

Then a mission in Africa could feel more like Africa, while a mission in South America.

Too difficult to mod and add?

Besides dead bodies and corpses, I don't think those objects are ever displayed in game.

That looks awesome, man.  Completely awesome.  Right down to the suits the men are wearing.
