Programming / How close is milestone 2.0 game?

I am absolutely fuckn retarded at installing anything. I managed to get some mods into the openxcom v1.0 but still can't follow the instructions for nightlies.

So.... my question is that I know allot of what's out there will become 2.0, about how close is that milestone? If everything can be packed into an installer for v2.0 where I don't have to copy files back and forth from zip archives that don't even extract to where I tell them to then that would be greeeat.

I like the whole idea but is it realistic? Like, will it take 10years? Lol.

I like the idea for phase 3 being that you destroy Cydonia base but that's just an outpost... the humans realize it took all the resources Earth had just to get to Mars and without a breakthrough new technology light years beyond our current one then there is no hope but to simply try to repel each new attack that inevitably comes from the stars since we can not take the fight to them.

I used to alter the values for things in my ruleset using the vanilla game (like making missiles more powerful and giving soldiers 100TU) only now the openxcom won't let me save any changes made to the Xcom1ruleset?! I even tried to copy it to notepad and drag it back into the program's ruleset folder but it wouldn't let me?

Any ideas?

Backspace "armor" ...

Love these nuke mods. I'm currently using the one that blows up 20 tiles and uses the high explosive sprite.

One logic problem to me seemed to be why can a backpack nuke completely destroy a landed battleship when ajax missiles are supposed to be nukes also and hardly do anything when shooting UFOs down?

Well I can do photoshop well, etc... but I don't know what colors work and what resolution, etc... I could make the obs at least.

Do you have to start a new game to get all the races? I have all the races but I never once got waspites or mechtoids.

I use everything to make the game encompassing but I quit using the retaliator after it got destroyed by a battleship. I use thunderstorms and ravens pretty exclusively. I have only 1 firestorm and it has fusion ball launchers on it just for taking down the battleships (which I never engage with only 1 fighter plane anyways).

Thunderstoms seem to have made firestorms unecessary (they don't use ellerium or cost very much at all). I know they only have one weapon pod but 2 alone can crash a battleship with one at standard range and the other at cautious.

Maybe it's been mentioned before but I thought it'd be really cool to play the game as the alien side and you fight xcom.
I don't know how doable this is, maybe not at all lol, but it's just an idea to throw around. Your object to winning the game would be to infiltrate enough earth countries to stop the xcom project or simnply assault all the xcom bases into oblivion.
