Open Feedback / What does the UFOextender Gun Melee Mod
« on: May 03, 2014, 05:27:20 pm »
Hi!

Since the wonderful new options menu is available, I came across the available mods.

Can someone please tell me what the "UFOextender Gun Melee" option is all about?
I can't find any information on that on https://ufopaedia.org or google.

Thank you!
/Johannes

Troubleshooting / Re: Cannot start recent OXC: INTRO.CAT missing

SupSuper, thank you for your reply!
Yes, the "Resources/UI/reserve.png" is there in the updated "not working" latest version I have.
It is not existing in the running, older version, just in case that helps.

Troubleshooting / Cannot start recent OXC: INTRO.CAT missing
« on: November 29, 2013, 09:21:22 pm »
Hi!

I am on OSX 10.9.
after downloading the latest nightly build, OXC crashes right after the "loading..." screen.
The console says "Segmentation fault: 11"
and the log complains about a missing INTRO.CAT
actually, there is no INTRO.CAT nowhere in my xcom files (and never was in my xcom-version a purchased via steam)
Setting playIntro: false in the options.cg dosen't help

BUT: OXC with a nightly build a few weeks ago runs fine (see the second log)
I tried some other recent nightlies with no success.

Any idea what is wrong?

There was weird mission period conditions. Because of that any mission came 2 times faster than it should. It also was fixed. Use latest git build.

how are games saved with v0.9 affected when loaded with a nightly build version?
can we expect "normal", i.e. fixed, behaviour when old save games are loaded with a fixed version?
or do we have to start a brand new game with the fixed version to get the benefits?

in other words: when (at what point of the game) are  mission period conditions applied/evaluated?

yeah, got it fixed!
after googling with no result I started to use my brain and finally had the awesome idea to just install the missing lib. clever me! ;)

brew install sdl_image did it :)

can't wait to start playing!

anyway, for v0.4.5 there was a one-file-solution (.app?) that didn't require to install external libs but just the original game data.
is there a chance of getting such for the current / future releases?

Thankks grrussel.
I downloaded the OSX builds (the big zip containing several versions, right?) and put the original xcom stuff in the data folder.

I also managed to install the dev tools for xcode and then installed homebrew
and the formlas as described on
https://bitbucket.org/grrussel/openxcomosx/overview

when trying to run the binary it tells
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libSDL_image-1.2.0.dylib
  Referenced from: /Users/<user>/Desktop/<folder>/grrussel-openxcomosx-2cd2c2574d7d/openxcom_2013-05-08_21-04-00/openxcom_2013-05-08_21-04-00/bin/./openxcom
  Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap: 5

looks like something is wrong with my SDL installation, since there is no file
/usr/local/lib/libSDL_image-1.2.0.dylib
but there are symlinks to other SDL-lib, like libSDL_gfx.dylib, libSDL_mixer.dylib and
libSDL-1.2.0.dylib

any help on this appreciated :)

Builds & Ports / Request for OSX build
« on: May 07, 2013, 04:09:10 pm »
Hi!

I'm very exited about the 0.9 version.
Could somebody please provide an OSX build of the amazing new version?

I tried to build myself but failed to install homebrew, which seems to require the
xcode devtools. AFAIU he latter is not provided as stand-alone DL by Apple anymore but only as part of the full xcode package. For several reasons, unfortunately  I can not install / run xcode.
Anyway, I am not a OSX / C developer and not familiar with building on OSX.

Is there already somebody as the "osx maintainer", as mentioned in the download section?

Best regards and thanks for all the effort you guys expend to get this great recode alive!
