Troubleshooting / Installing the games before open xcom

Hello, I own the original xcom and terror from the deep on cd rom.  I can't figure out how to install the games.  pressing the .bat file gives me an error.  simply copying the contents of the cd rom does not constitute installation according to open xcom.  Can anyone help?
