Do medkit type items like x-grog and vodka still grant bravery xp for treating fatal wounds? I've just recently got rum production going and I'm wondering if I could use it to replace my basic bandage items.

Neither Rum or Grog trains Bravery. I guess Vodka doesn't. Luckily bandages are cheap and small. Another way to train BRA is... using a rope. Not very practical but hey, it's something!

I think the description of the Escape Tower mission should be improved a bit. I found it extremely confusing the first time I played it because there was an aircar with locked doors and no way to get in. In hindsight the obvious answer is that you need to break into the aircar using demolition tools. But that wasn't adequately conveyed by the mission briefing or the mission itself.

For instance the mission briefing says the mage is "holed up" inside his escape vehicle, I thought nothing of this sentence, certainly not that it was trying to tell me how to finish the mission. The description for the prepper base mission also uses the phrase "holed up in" and you don't need cutting equipment to get in there. In fact, this is the first time in ANY X-Com or X-Com modded game, including XPiratez itself, that I have ever required cutting tools in order to complete a mission at all.

So I think you should add a line to the mission briefing that spells out the need to break into the aircar through some means like high explosives. I used a fusion torch but I'm pretty sure there are other tools that would work.

Yeah, that one is... not very clear. There's two more, I think. The Raynerd one, and the Bank Robbery.

Id absolutely be able to but im not exactly sure how color blindness works or what people see when they're looking at a color they don't pick up on. For example I have the reverse of color blindness when it comes to Ultraviolet - I can immediately tell if im looking at UV even though humans aren't supposed to be able to see it.

edit - one problem I just noticed thinking about it is our monitors and tvs do not actually have saturated Yellow color. So I probably couldn't actually do it. If someone can't see Red or Green then all they're supposedly going to see on the screen is a bluish grayscale image which may be more bluish if the other channels are diminished. Although its a trick of the eye and our brain we see good yellow and gold and brown tones due to mixing colors that doesn't work on someone who can't see red/green because the yellow is not authentic.

If I made a palette with yellow and blue colors I think they would then honestly just see an even more blue shifted palette than usual. The reason why they see bluish colored everything on tvs and monitors by the way is they see brightness where the red/green is but no color at all, but blue is a component of pixel brightness, so its always there except in predominantly red/orange/brown/yellow/green tones and saturated versions of them (less saturated more greyish versions have Blue so would appear bluish).

Someone who cannot see Yellow or Blue will see the red and green and thus have more color available to them. But this is the rarer color blindness type unless ive got it backwards. For them most things will have a muddy brown kinda look I think except for colors that are explicitly red or green... blue lends brightness only and maybe not too much of it. The color they see is probably hellish looking.

Yeah... might be a tricky thing to do. I started to read again about it and yeah... Sorry for hijacking the thread! And thanks for the answer! Again, despite not being able to really appreciate in full the Noir palette, it DOES look amazing!

Quick question since you're CLEARLY talented with color and graphics... Can you... make a colorblind compliant palette? Just asking

PS: This Noir palette is AMAZING! Maybe I'm partial with the condensed font, but the color scheme? Sweet!

Weapon Spreadsheet updated with the shotgun changes and a few extra guns.

Don't want to be an ass, but... I can't tell the weapon tiers. Colorblind as fuck, sorry! Excellent work, tho. I do enjoy reading the guide. Everyday I learn something new, or recheck something.

Edit: Maybe an extra column with the Tier?

Might be useful for the guide, but... using the Zeerust Carbine Grenade Launcher can train Throwing on a gal. Maybe it's common knowledge, but I just realized it

Medical Slicer, Ax, Bardiche, Iron Rod, Barbaric Ax...

Oh snap! Never knew about that one! If someone else has another hidden demolisher of terrain speak up! Thanks, Delian!

PD: Since the last update with the radar range extension, there's more viable starting countries... Any suggestion on those? Or a link to the starting bonuses? Opinions? I like to read, that's all

I got the Ripper (the small chainsaw, that I think it doesn't do much as a demolition instrument) in a recent run and that remind me to ask....

... Besides the Pickaxe, the Spiked mace, Mr Handy, the Fusion Torch and the Hammer, which NON obvious weapons can be used for demolition? Example, strong enough to open the Escape Tower shuttle door? I mean, something with higher terrain % damage, not just pure damage

That is not reliable. For example Fortuna has a gear pile in separated compartment that no soldier stands in.

Yeah, I didn't recall that small detail. I'm in the middle of a new run and I didn't remember that.

PS: I should have said Checking the minimap for an item drop dot on turn one, in the ship. I'm colorblind, so I have no idea which color is it

Where is the excess gear (not equipped) dropped in a Shadowbat? I can't see the pile on the map. Could really use those extra incendiaries I packed as its a sudden zombie mission!

Honestly, no idea. I never used that one, but I do know is that you fill a vessel with the default positioning of your troops, one of them will be on top of the excess gear of that vessel. Well, at least AFAIK.

TL;DR: Fill a ship with troops, check the troop with the excess gear at their feet on turn 1. Hope it helps!

Now there's a lot of ground vehicles and GR guns (You can use the Rotogun, and the Assault cannon as craft weapons!) so, maybe you can check that. The Gunwagon is pretty nice. I mean, it isn't as effective as the Little Bird with a 14mm, but still...

... Maybe you can get a vehicle as a recon vessel. Get the one with the most radar range, and check the systems. IDR if the Pirate radio extends the radar range on ground vehicles.

The Watchtower map is... kinda big for the mission itself or is just me?

Probably it isn't the place to say this, but since I updated to OXCE 7.13.10 (v2024-08-25) (Via Github, and building from source) and to the latest XPiratez, when I press Alt during BattleScape, I can't see the arrow that shows where the units are facing. That, and the option now are called "SAFEWORDS" in GeoScape

Maybe it's an OXCE issue, but I can't really tell.... Thanks!

I’ve been playing this for seven years. No way am I restarting. Gotta be a way to finish this one way or another.

You can set aside that save, and start another in the second difficulty setting. That dificulty ALSO enable VooDoo, and honestly? It isn't so different to the first difficulty. If you're playing for seven years you'll find a VERY different early game. Give it a try
